Summary: two singles were met on the Black Day.  Could something more happen between them?

Disclaimer: I don’t own anything

A/N: written in response to jakiwumi’s request :D thank you for making this request, and I hope you enjoy this, and that this is what you’re expecting

I bought a book on how to write effective short stories, and I’m testing out a few things.  I hope this doesn’t turn out to be an utter fail (because I know that this is a fail D:)

The requesting post is still open, so for those who are interested, do check my journal :D

Meanwhile, I’m going through the planning process of a universe... a very simple universe actually

Black Day

“Are you still coming over tomorrow?” Jaejoong asked to the receiver he held between his ear and his shoulder, while his hand was busy holding up a piece of paper against the freezer door, and scribbling something on it-a shopping list.

“No, I thought I told you that Su and I are going out now?”

“No you didn’t, Mr. Helpful,” Jaejoong stated simply, putting a fridge magnet at the top of the paper to make it stick.  “I’m making more jajangmyeon tomorrow because Min says he’s coming.  Don’t you want to come?”

“Well, I suppose I could... just to help you finish the food.”

“Why, thank you,” Jaejoong said while smiling sweetly, almost too sugary-sweet, although he knew that Yoochun couldn’t see him.  “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

“Do you mind if I bring a friend along?  You might like him.”

“If he can clean, yes, I might,” Jaejoong grabbed the receiver and shrugged.  “Oh, anyway, I have to run now.  I still have a lot of things I have to buy for tomorrow.”

“Sure.  I’ll just give you a ring later.”

“Okay.  See you Chun.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Changmin!  I thought you said you’ll be coming at ten?” Jaejoong asked in surprise when he saw his friend instead of the grocery delivery guy who had promised to send him the black bean sauce first thing the next morning when he came to his shop the day before.  “It’s so rare for you to wake up this early.”

“Yah, I’m not a pig,” Changmin protested as he welcomed himself into the apartment, taking his shoes off by the rack.  “Do you need help in anything aside from eating the noodles?”

“Why, actually, if you can go to the grocery store down the road and retrieve my order, I’d be very grateful,” Jaejoong said, handing a piece of paper-a receipt.  “I need the sauce for the finishing touch.”

“Sure,” Changmin agreed.  “Just be sure not to let Yoosu touch my food before I come back.”

“Oh Min, without the sauce, it’s not even finished,” Jaejoong huffed, rolling his eyes.  “I never let anyone touch my cooking before they’re finished.”

“Point taken.  I’ll be off now.”

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Hey Jae!” Yoochun greeted as he walked into the apartment without knocking, followed by Junsu and his friend.

“There’s a doorbell for a reason, you know,” Jaejoong deadpanned as he watched Yoochun waltz into his living room without heeding his complain, and paused.  “Hey!  You didn’t come this morning!” he said as he pointed an accusing finger at Yoochun’s friend.

“Eh?” Yoochun looked at the two blankly.

“Oh!  That’s right!  The black sauce!” the guy exclaimed as he hit his palm with his fist.  “Sorry, I was dragged around by Yoochun as soon as I woke up.”

“Humph, apology not accepted,” Jaejoong harumphed, and turned to look accusingly at Yoochun.

“How was I supposed to know you bought the ingredients from him!?” Yoochun defended himself.

“You could’ve asked if he has something to do!”

“When is the food ready!?” Changmin interrupted as he barged into the apartment.  “I’ve been walking around the block five times!  You said it’ll be ready during the third round!”

“Anyway, this is my friend Yunho.  Jaejoong, Yunho.  Yunho, Jaejoong,” Yoochun said as he introduced the two, ignoring Changmin who was still complaining in the background.

“Nice to meet you,” Jaejoong bowed at Yunho.  “Uh, I guess I should finish the food now.  Do wait in the dining room.”

While the others walked to the dining room, Yunho went to the kitchen instead.  He helped Jaejoong finish up (which didn’t involve any more cooking), and whatever happened later in the kitchen, no one but the two knew.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

“Hey!  You still celebrating Black Day?  I feel like eating some jajangmyeon.”

“Sorry Chun.  Not anymore.”
