I have the same problem with my dad -- he's become impossible to buy things for. I don't know much about your dad, but what works for mine these days is restaurant gift certificates. He doesn't want 'stuff,' but he and Gerry do like to go out to dinner once in a while, and they have simple tastes -- Cracker Barrel and Hardy's are their favorites.
