The yard might still be a bit gray and dull, but the signs that spring is on its way were evident today. When I got up this morning, I took my coffee out to the deck to do some proofreading, and was greeted with a cloudless sky and a warm breeze. No need even for a jacket. Independence Day is always such a weird holiday in Logan Square. Because our neighborhood has about 65% Latino residents, the 4th gets folded into Puerto Rican Independence Day and Mexican Independence Day, despite the fact that these other two holidays take place on other dates. Two icons of my youth made TV appearances in the last few days. The first was on BBC Crown Jewels - The Smiths performing in 1983. They looked so young and underfed, especially Moz. Successful, Productive Day
Drove out to Morton Grove to have a lunch meeting with JB about her website, and it was very, very helpful. I showed her three different possible design directions, and she admitted that she had a hard time picking - she loved all three! We're free! Free, I tell ya, FREE! Today our now ex-landlush signed the papers, and we are now the tenants of Yolanda and Amir, a very nice couple whom we'd met on two previous walk-throughs. Meetup, thou art fun
Last night's GLBT Meetup went well. I set out for the Loop about 6:20pm, and met drubear outside the DePaul Center B&N shortly before the meeting. As we were ordering drinks, we met up with Dan, the Meetup coordinator who recognized Chris from his pic. We sat down and started chatting, then another couple, Dan and Marty, showed up. Tonight is the GLBT Pagan MeetUp, so I'm meeting drubear at the DePaul Center B&N. I feel like such a crusty old Pagan, inwardly wincing at the thought of meeting new folks. A huge thunderstorm is hitting the city right now, so I had to shut the PCs down and work on the laptop. I got layouts for JB done before the storm was in full swing, and put on a pot of coffee.
