Ok, this isn't news. Everyone in Ithaca knows how much Time Warner sucks and wishes there were a viable alternative for high speed internet, much less TV. I do believe that's well beyond the statute of limitations for past due accounts. I would tell them to go to hell and take their $1.81 with them.

OTOH, and maybe I'm just paranoid, but if it goes to collections won't she get harrased by crazy collections people?

They did the same thing to me when I moved from Lansing Sta to your place ... I went downtown, closed my account, paid the final balance they gave me, and left. Eight months later, I got a bill for $10. They never managed to give me an explanation of where it came from, even after multiple calls and a couple supervisors, and I refused to pay it. They did send it to collections, and I spoke to the collections people and explained what happened and what I'd done, and they removed it from my credit report and I never heard about it again.

Time Warner is a bunch of thieves.
