Unexpected visit

Our recent visit to the slayer had undoubtedly been a success. She believed Lindsey and I were going to save her, and maybe we were, just not the way she was expecting. Adding the part about Angel's soul had been an exceptionally nice touch on Lindsey's part. After all, if we were there to hurt her then why would we be so concerned for Angel and ( Read more... )

My anger was only made worse by Lilah's nonchalant question. I must be losing my touch with these people; they don't seem to be so afraid of me anymore. I would have to rectify that right now. I walked over to her desk, deciding not to rip her throat out right there.

"I think you know why I'm here. I know what you and Lindsey have been up to recently." I said calmly, surprising myself with how calm I was. Rage was boiling underneath and threatening to emerge, but I kept ahold of it. It wasn't time just yet.

I sat on the corner of her desk, inches from her and the desk chair she sat in, and stared down at her. "Once Lindsey gets here, we're all going to have a nice little chat."

"It's Lilah. Would you mind stopping by my office, say...now. There's someone here I think your gonna wanna see."

I wondered if Lilah had found something pertinent that we could use against Buffy. I hadn't been working on that since we left. I had been reading about some interesting things that one of our clients had done and defending this particular client was not going to be your typical hatchet, bullshit defense.

I had rushed to her office because I had sensed a little fear in her voice. It wasn't something common in Lilah that I knew of, recently anyway, and since we were the ones in charge, I was thinking of one name.

I heard his question to her just outside of the door and then made myself comfortable inside of her office.

"Once Lindsey gets here, we're all going to have a nice little chat.""Wow, it sounds like you actually have something important to say, Angel. What could this be ( ... )

I relaxed a bit once Lindsey got to my office, but not much. Angel was unpredictable not to mention dangerous and obviously pissed off about something we had done. Not that we hadn't done plenty for his to be upset about, it was just a matter now of finding out which thing in particular he was talking about.

I leaned back in my chair, twirling my pen around in my finger and smiled. "Well," I spread my hands out and glanced over at Lindsey, "looks like you have our attention. Mind telling us why you broke in this time?"

The thought that he was here because of our recent visit to Buffy barely even crossed my mind. After all, there was no possible way he could haven known about that. It wasn't like we had sent out flyer's yet or anything...that would come later.

"Good, I'm glad you're both here." I got up and started to walk a bit. "The both of you have done something that once again has pushed a major button with me. You two are very good at that. Then again, pushing buttons is what you get paid for ( ... )
