Okay, well, since about 8 weeks ago, the last time I posted, a lot of stuff has happened.
First and foremost, I got married. Yay. If you're interested in that sort of thing, pictures can be found at
here, though I think you have to register or something. Scroll down on the list of events, you'll see us. They're pretty amazing, our photographer did a terrific job.
All in all, it was an amazing weekend and a perfect wedding. The weather could not have been any better (Accuweather's actual forecast was "delightful") and we had a blast seeing all of our friends and family together. Everyone said they had a great time. The honeymoon was awesome as well, I highly recommend a Sandals-type all-inclusive resort if you ever just want to get away and stop worrying about life for a while. They really take care of everything and all you have to do is relax and enjoy it. Which we did. Pictures of that are mostly posted on Laurie's facebook page.
And married life is pretty great so far, though frankly it doesn't feel that different than unmarried life. Life with Laurie is just a pretty great thing in general!
Somehow, during the month of October when I was getting married and going on my honeymoon, I still managed to attend 5 of the 7 Phillies home playoff games in person. I hadn't been to a single Phillies playoff game last year (as I was stuck in Boston for their brief failure in the 2007 playoffs). They won all of those games (obviously, as they won all 7 home games they played). Actually, I should say 4.4ish, because I was there for only the last 3.5 innings of the craziest World Series win ever as I witnessed, in person, my beloved Phils win the World Championship. I could write a book about that, but it would be pretty cliche, I imagine my experience wasn't anything particularly notable. Suffice it to say, it was one of the most memorable moments of my life, and I thank my brother profusely for hooking me up with those half-of-game 5 tickets.
To add to the amazing month, I was promoted at work, after what felt like years of begging for it and fighting through all sorts of big company red tape, different managers, different directors, etc. Shortly after the promotion, I was actually reorg'ed slightly again and have another new manager (but the same director at least). Basically, since I left my first team where I was for 4 years with very stable leadership, I've had 5 different managers and different 6 directors or something like that. Whatever. Still enjoying my job, and now getting paid more to do it! The promotion doesn't really entail much additional resposibility, it was more to catch up my pay/grade level with what I'm actually doing.
And to cap off the most incredible 30-ish day period of my life, Barack Obama was elected President on Tuesday. I've been an Obama supporter since I heard his keynote at Kerry's convention, and he's the only politician I've ever donated money to. I'm very optimistic about what his election will do for the country.
There's been some other awesome events in the past month too. Laurie and I got a Wii, which rules. I switched over to Sprint so we can be on the same plan and got a Blackberry Curve as a result. The Eagles won on my wedding day and have won every game since then. Both of my fantasy teams are doing quite well, especially my defending champion squad in the Kickball league (8-1, 1st place).
I've spent some time trying to ponder what would have to happen for me to have a better 1 month-ish period of my life than from, say, October 1st-November 4th. I mean, I got married to the a woman who I love so deeply that I can hardly believe it sometimes. My favorite sports team in the world won a championship, and I got to attend playoff games with my then-fiancee, my Dad, and my brother, who I was sitting next to and celebrating with when they won the championship. I spent a week in a tropical paradise. I got a promotion I'd been wanting for years. And the guy I wanted to be elected President, someone I feel could truly change this country for the better, was elected in a landslide. I guess maybe if Laurie and I have our first child during the same month that the Eagles win the Superbowl, around which time I also graduate with my MBA and I also get a promotion at work?
Anyways, in every way I can think of, I am legitimately in the best place I've ever been.
As Brody and I would probably say, everything is coming up Millhouse.
