I have been crying on the phone with my best friend for over an hour.  I didn't think it would hit me like this.  I was excited about this but the sense of relief that the long dark night is almost over.  God, it's been a long agonizing eight years and it's almost over ( Read more... )

*hugs*

Yeah I was pretty excited in front my TV too, I dragged my mom & aunt from the store to go home just in time for his speech. What a wonderful speech. Really different than 4 years ago (ergh! :( )

This is the link for my country's newspaper (sorry no hardcopy)

I can send you today's and tomorrow's Daily Telegraph editions....given our time difference, today's was obviously sent to print before Obama was declared - tomorrow's may have more info....I'm afraid we don't get an evening edition paper but I'll glady post them to you free of charge to celebrate such an historic occasion...

{{{{{Sela}}}}} - it'll be a long hard haul given the current global situation but I have hope for the future for us all...

Bless you for that, Deeds. I would love to have papers from across the pond. I do have hope for the future as well. Honestly, I struggle with it because we've been in fear, anger and strife for so long but I willing to take a chance on hope.

I was the only one who stayed up to watch Obama's speech - hubby and teenboy were both sick in bed, so I sat in front of the TV, listened, watched, and wiped tears. I'm an old fart, middle-class white woman who can't remember ever feeling so good about my vote and the outcome of an election. I'm so happy that people didn't vote in a Black man, but voted in the BEST man. My faith in humanity has been restored.

As for those redneck grits that are grumbling this morning. . .can we ship them off to some alien planet where they can have their own place to sow hatred and cruelty and leave the rest of us alone!?!?

Thank you! What is wrong with these people?! I am been more than once insulted with the offhanded snide comment that Obama was elected only because he was black. Not because he was the most intelligent, educated, qualified man for the job who just happens to be black.

And what really pisses me off is the assumption that if I, a person of color, voted for Obama I only did it because he's balck. Like I didn't think and consider my choice like obviously they did - how very insulting!

They need to get over it!!!!
