Telly watching! GBBO and Holby City

GBBO night! It's always such a good night :-) Although my stress levels over gingerbread were epic.

(Mum decided to do some baking today. I may, er, have suggested gingerbread.)

I really need Candice's recipe for sticky ginger cake. And I've got a sudden urge to practise my piping on iced biscuits...

So far, I like nearly all of them. Val irritates me more each time I see her, but I hold out hope she won't last much longer. I don't have a must-win favourite, but my little pool of loves currently includes Jane, Candice, Salesi, and Benjamina. If they got to the final four, I'd be happy to see any of them win :-)

I've now watched two episodes of Holby in a row where Bernie and Serena were not on screen together. WOE. Come on, show. Do better. Although at least you brought Jac back to me. Those ten minutes were she was disturbingly happy and kind were worrying, but the real Jac came back. Phew! Now I need to watch the Casualty 30th anniversary episode and get properly stressed for my favourites.

You know, shared near-death experiences and working through huge medical emergencies make for great shipping stories. Just a hint, if you want to give me a Bernie and Serena episode...

One of the things I realised while I was on holiday is that I was pushing myself so hard to write lots every night that I was burning myself out. I never had time to do things like read, watch TV, and unwind. I'm trying to be kinder to myself and not push so hard. Yes, I want to write. Yes, I want to get a novel published eventually. No, I can't do that at the cost of my ability to think and enjoy life. It's time to be a bit more reasonable about how I use my time: as long as I'm writing regularly, does it matter if I'm writing 600 words or 1500? Probably not. But if I'm writing 600 words most nights and taking time to do other things, I can still finish books *and* have time for other things that keep my brain happy.
