Timeless episodes 1 and 2

Spoilers ahead!

Look, I know it's ridiculous. I am aware that the time travel mechanics don't work if you think about them for more than two seconds. I know that it's not a show I can think about too deeply, because if I do, my head will explode due to logic gaps.

I can buy the historian knowing the timeline of Abraham Lincoln's assassination if she wrote a book on it, and I am going to handwave it if she knows that level of detail about every event in modern American history. (I may have more side-eye if she also knows these details about pre-Civil War history and European history, because nobody has that level of knowledge on such a broad range of topics.)

But Timeless is charming. Rufus is adorable and I give the show a bit of kudos for remembering that most of American history is really not welcoming to a black dude. Particularly a really intelligent black dude.

Paterson Joseph is playing a grey-in-shadows character and that makes my heart happy in a way it hasn't been since he was the Marquis de Carabas.

The historian lady is getting some fascinating backstory and I'm hoping they handle the sudden appearance of a fiance with the same knowing *stuff* Rufus is getting. I don't care about the soldier guy, but that's mostly because he's a White Traumatised Soldier stereotype to the max so far, and he needs some layers. Not more trauma, just...something to make him less of a random collection of cliches.

I am fascinated by the bad guys and what they're up to.

Honestly, it's ridiculous and requires hand-waving and I DON'T CARE because I'm really enjoying it. The End.
