No knowledge, just guesses...

Perhaps they do scheduling, handle non-represented correspondence, get the mail, that kind of thing. Like an exec assistant does.

Maybe they are "agents in training" but "assistant" sounds better.

Maybe they are receptionist-style positions, and route phone calls, mail, etc for several agents (instead of just one like the exec assistant theory).

I suppose they could be interns? But really, I have no idea...

LOL Yeah, I kind of figured that they do the "normal" assistant jobs, but (for example) there is an agent (call them Agent X) at Writer's House who is also an assistant to a senior agent. Agent X has on their submission guidelines not to submit to them if you have already submitted to another agent at Writer's House. The assumption is (according to people's comments at AgentQuery) that Agent X doesn't want to have to look at the same queries that they have already looked over for their boss.

It makes sense. I'm just trying to figure out if there is any truth to it.
