I have spent today working on the outline for the next book in my YA series. I have my new characters (at least the important ones) set up. I know their names (and I was smart enough this time to keep track of initials so I don't have new characters with the same first initials as existing characters - go me :P), what they look like, and a little ( Read more... )

I has cold too :( I hope you get over yours quick and good luck with the writing.

I'm halfway through my current WIP and am managing the 500 words a day + goal I have set myself. My schedule has been changing a lot so I'm not being very ambitious. Once things get settled I'm going to try and get back up to 1000 words a day.

Yeah, I'm actually looking for 1000+ a day, but I need to set the actual goal at a more realistic level otherwise I will get discouraged. Usually if I hit 500, I'm on a roll by that point and get quite a bit more, but sometimes I pull those 500 out by the teeth and it's all I can manage.

Since it is a new piece, I need to set some sort of goal though, or I will just sit on it and keep "prepping" without writing anything.

Hmmm. Projects. Does querying count? LOL! I'm also getting ready to start off the next book. Just tidying up things in the outline a bit.

Yes, querying counts as a project. It actually makes me feel better since that means that I'm working on multiple projects - LOL.

I'm 12,000 into my newest novel (9,000 words in one day) and my goal is 3,000-6,000 words a week, depending on a week (some weeks those extra 3,000 words'll be dedicated to school projects).

I don't know when I last had a 9k day! I think it was NaNo 2007 LOL. I know how the word game goes though. Sometimes there are just other things that have to take priority. Today mine has been running around taking care of life. The 30 minutes I have right now before going to pick up the girl from school just isn't really enough to be constructive, but I think I'm going to give it the old college try. Good luck with yours, and hopefully school doesn't bog you down too much!
