Geeze, this took forever.

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Mm, I picture him as slightly shorter than modern America- maybe by an inch- but still taller than England since lol, canon. He's lanky for an America, being a teenager, and also just a tad underweight. Rations. They suck.

2. How old is he?
Physically? 16. Politically? 1. Actually? 170-ish. Nation ages are complicated.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He's proud. And tall. Do the math.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Hetalia says he should have a cold right now 'cause sob, money BUT AMERICA'S NEVER HAD A COLD SO HAH He's... fit. Ish. Underweight due to no food, but other than that he's okay. Maybe a bit weaker than your normal America, but that's to be expected and he's still extremely strong anyway.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Determined? Most of the time anyway, when he's around adults. If he's alone or with kids, he'll relax a bit, taking on a 'carefree' demeanor more like that of his older self.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He doesn't really pay attention to how he looks (THERE'S A WAR GOING ON Y'KNOW) but he's attractive. Like, Hollywood boy attractive. He just doesn't know it yet.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Fair skin, with a few not-fully-healed war scars. He hasn't been in enough wars to be really, really marked up, though.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Golden, sunshine, amber waves of grain; let's see, what else do the fanfic writers use... He's blond, with probably medium texture. Not too fine, maybe leaning a bit more on the coarser side if anything. His style is 'however he woke up this morning + a little bit of finger combing.' And you can't forget the little cowlick that could: Nantucket. Nothing will bring that stubborn strand down. NOTHING.

9. What color are his eyes?
FREEDOM blue.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Mmm, nope.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
Probably his temples from being serious and glaring all the time.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Uniform, 24/7. He's lucky to have it so he's going to wear it, dammit.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Well enough, and if he's not comfortable, he doesn't show it. He's proud of his uniform, okay?

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
...I repeat, uniform, 24/7.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
...

"Underpants did not exist yet and before a man put on his breeches he tucked his shirt up around his legs somewhat like a diaper."

.../cough

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Boyish? He's still America, so he's got a bit of a high-pitched voice, but he's not as loud or exuberant.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Not as loud as modern America, but he has no trouble being heard. How he speaks really depends on the topic and whether or not he's confident about it. ~FREEDOM~ and ~LIBERTY~ will have him talking seriously and easily, his feelings not so much.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
British American. He's trying to get rid of that pesky 'British' part, but it sometimes slips through when he's caught off-guard.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
English fluently, and a few bits and pieces of other languages like German, French, and Spanish. Yay, immigrants!

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Nope. All American, all the time~

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Well, he sort of just speaks his mind, so...

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Neither? He speaks simply, but has no problem speaking his thoughts.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
I... don't think I can classify him as strictly book-smart or street-smart. He's good at some subjects, dumb as a brick at others, and adaptable otherwise. His strength probably lies in his creativity and innovativeness.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He thinks on his feet, and tries not to think about anything that requires deliberation. :|b

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
America thinks in run-on sentences, if that makes any sense. He goes with his gut most of the time, and is quite the idealistic young man, despite the circumstances.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Not formal, that's for certain. He's probably gone around and asked a lot of his people, “Hey, how do you do what you do?” and gotten them to teach him. So a crash course in several trades. Then you've got the philosophy stuff he's learned from his Fathers and the basic education England provided. Sort of. When he was around at least.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
FREEDOM AND JUSTICE-- I mean. Nothing much, really, at least not yet. And he'd really like to learn more about this “being a nation” thing.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
...Guess. He's more sober than modern America, but he's still America.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Optimistic, but not exuberantly so. He's kinda serious, but can kick back and relax if he's around people he trusts. Determinator is his default setting.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Still a bit more guarded than modern America would be, but just as friendly. If you're not British.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
...Can you react to the point of acting? :|a All the 'minor' protests in the beginning were reactions to harsher punishments. One snowball effect later and you've got a war and a new nation.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
FIIIIIIIGHT.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Like everything else, his sense of humor's a bit sobered up with the war going on, but he still enjoys making jokes and laughing. Gallows humor is too much, but everything else is a-okay.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Does being the collective spirit of a group of people count? Same way the other nations deal, I guess? |D;;

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His discovery, his colonization by England, various proto-democratic assemblies and contracts, the Puritans and other religious groups, various wars against the natives and the French including the North American off-shoot of the Seven Years War, learning about democracy, the social contract, and other ideologies, the protests leading up to the war, the Declaration of Independence.

14. What does he fear?
Being confined. Losing.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
To become a strong and powerful nation known around the world. To be free. To be happy.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
How absolutely and completely fucking terrified he is.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. ...Hah. Hahaha. HAHAHA. sob.
Okay. So. He hates England. A lot. America's independent, doesn't need him anymore, and England's a bastard, tea-drinking tyrant that needs to GTFO already.

Or at least, that's what he says and thinks most of the time. There's still a part of him that cares for England, and is sad that it came to this. He really doesn't like that part of himself, though, since it makes the war that much worse for him.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Canada. They're siblings, they pick on each other a lot, but ultimately they care about each other. America really wanted Canada to join him in the rebellion, but Canada was happy with how England was treating him after being won by him in the Seven Years War. America holds a bit of bitterness towards him for that, but it's nothing compared to his feelings toward England. ...Canada might not know it yet, but he's trusting him to take care of the Loyalists when the war's over.

New Spain (Mexico) on the other hand, well, he doesn't see a lot of. But recently s/he's been kind of sort of helping out his cause while Spain either doesn't notice or looks the other way, so. He's pretty neutral towards her/him for now.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Well, I guess you can call Scotland and the rest of the British gang a part of his family. Safe to say he doesn't like them much since they're British, even if they don't like England either.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
France used to be like that uncle that you don't really want to admit you have, and since America was English territory they didn't get along too well, but in recent years, well. He really, really needs France's help.

Then you've got the Fathers. They are what America thinks to be his family now. Washington is his daddy. |3;;

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
In universe, I don't... really think he has a best friend. He's not particularly close to any other nation, and his Fathers are his Fathers. Not really 'friend' material.

6. Does he have other close friends?
He's very close to his men, since many of them are around the same 'age' as him.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Again, depends! He'll try to be friendly, since he's so desperate for allies, but he's also stubborn and guarded. He's not going to go around looking for a fight, though. Unless you're England.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Considering he's fighting his family right now, friends. But who says friends can't be valued as family, hm?

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Singleeeee.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Doesn't have a spouse nor a romantic relationship!

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
...If he ever had one, he's not telling me. 8|a;;

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He doesn't have time to think about this kind of stuuuuuff.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No, I... don't think he can have kids, really.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
England. England, England, England. Maybe Canada, a bit of the Holy Roman Empire, but mostly England.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
Pretty damn close to asexual right now. Maybe when he grows up a little more he'll figure it out.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Prude forever. BLAME THE PURITANS.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
~LIBERTY~ No, but seriously. Turn-ons... eh, stuff that normal teenage boys like, I guess. I dunno, he doesn't think about this stuff often. War n' all. Turn-offs are a bit easier: being too clingy, being pessimistic, calling him a kid, not recognizing him as a country...

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
DOING BOTH BECAUSE I CAN
Western: Cancer, the Crab. Um. He doesn't fit at all. Motherly? Sensitive? AHAHA, no.
Chinese: HOLY CRAP. THIS FITS. SO MUCH. I DON'T EVEN. LOOK AT THIS.
FIRE MONKEY
An energetic, gesticulating Monkey, who will show traits of being a natural leader and innovator. He is self-assured and determined, expressive and truthful with his emotions and very interested in the opposite sex.
The Fire element will lend him great vitality, and he will have a tendency to dominate or teach those less aggressive than himself. He will possess a fertile imagination and should not let his ideas run away with him. He is inventive but not always careful.
The Fire Monkey will have a powerful and constant drive to be on the top of his professional field. He is competitive to the extreme and will be capable of great jealousy. His creativity is born of willpower, necessity and initiative, and these will enable him to upstage others and keep one step ahead of the game.
The Fire Monkey is the most forceful of all the Monkeys. He relishes being in full control and can be opinionated, stubborn and argumentative when he is negative. He is lucky in speculative ventures and he can correctly evaluate risks. But in spite of the bold and collected face he presents to the public, this type of Monkey hides morbid suspicions of how others may be deceiving him.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
That. Is a very interesting question. He has a lot of influence from the Puritans, but many of the other religious groups stressed religious freedom. Then you have the writers of his birth certificate, the Declaration, who kept God out of it. He was founded as a non-religious state, yet much of his short history has to do with religion. Overall, I think he tries to incorporate all the different ideologies into his daily actions, but for official stuff, he leaves religion at the door.

Of course that doesn't mean that some of the ideals don't slip through. PRUDE FOREVER.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Moooore Puritans. The Puritans got him started on the 'all men are created equal' thing. Then you've got Locke and the rest of the Enlightenment-era philosophers getting him in on the 'social contract' and other various government things. Personally, he has a high sense of duty and justice and will fight to protect those dear to him whenever, wherever, and against whoever. Again, Determinator is his default setting. Compromising it would probably require extreme mind games. And I mean extreme. Boy doesn't compromise well. (IT'S TOO LATE TO APOLOGIIIIZE)

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Pretty well, considering. He's open to just about everyone. Except England. I've said that a lot in this meme huh. He might disagree, but he believes everyone should be free to practice what they wish to. Just don't force yourself on him and all will be well.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
...u-um, can I just get away with “l-lol, 18th century?” He'll be more open since he's made up of all his people and Nations are kind of funny when it comes to gender but, u-uh. There's a bit of a mindset. ''orz

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
...AHAHA. Oh man, he is so broke.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Mundanely, he's an infantry soldier in General Washington's Continental Army. Nation-ly, he's the incredible SPIDERMAN the newly born United States of America. Being a soldier isn't much of a change; I like to think that he snuck off to help the Yankee army during the various wars leading up to the Revolution. It's just the fact that he's a soldier for himself and not the British Empire now.

As for the Nation side of it, well. He's a nation, not a colony. There's no getting around that that's a huge change. You don't even need to mention that it's never been done before. It's what he knows it right; it's what he wants, more than anything, but even still, there's that slight sentimental twinge that eats away at him sometimes. Damn Loyalists. He'll never let it show, though, unless there are very special circumstances.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He lives with his army. Now whether that means in a tent or a hole in the ground depends on the day, but yeah, he's not living in a house right now. He does have houses though, all across the states.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Not tea.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Um. Does 'Nation' count as a job description? He's not very good at it yet if it does. Soldier otherwise, I suppose. He's a good shot, but he lacks discipline.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Free time? What free time?! DON'T YOU KNOW THERE'S A WAR ON?!

But really. He loves being outside, which is why he doesn't mind the 'living in a hole' thing as much as he should. It doesn't matter so much as where outside, so long as there are no walls around him. He'd just as much like going out and spending a day walking on the streets of Boston as he would exploring the frontier. He always needs something productive to do or else he gets restless, so he would spend much of his free time out and about, talking and asking people if he can help them with anything.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He... eats when he can. And when he can he eats a lot. Rations suck, guys. 'Specially when you're broke. Alcohol is sort of a way of life for him, but he'll never drink to get drunk. At least not yet. Blame the Puritans.

...Also, despite his protests, he can stand England's food. Maybe he might even still like it. He just says the things he does to insult England.
