interlude snack; nothing will reach her any longer.

[ In this dream you might find yourself in a big church, so big that the size might just overwhelm you for a moment before you can orient yourself. The church walls are lined with neat black brick rows, and the floor paved with similar grey tiles. Beyond the big stained glass windows on the wall a red light - perhaps the setting sun - seems to burn ( Read more... )

[Saki frowns up at the statue. The music slides off her like water, ignored, just an affectation - she's used to voices, she's used to sounds where no sounds should be.

The statue, though - that's a different story.

It's hard to keep herself from staring up at it, her expression almost a grimace before she twists it back into neutrality.]

... Hey, kid. [Without looking over, without looking away.]

[ The words seem to snap out of whatever she was mumbling about-- instead she moves her head to look at the surprising arrival. For a moment she frowns, as if she can place the face but isn't sure why she would see it here of all places, but then she does speak up, even with the frown. ]

... You, here?

[Saki shrugs. It's a loose, nonchalant gesture, with her hands still in the front pockets of her jacket.]

Me, here.

[ The frown on Kyouko's face doesn't disappear, although she does give a tiny nod at the shrug. She flops down on the ground, her back leaning against the statue so she can still look at Saki while she talks. ]

Dunno. Guess it just seemed like a weird place for anyone to be. [ Even if she can hear the music, it doesn't seem she's paying much attention to it. ]

[While she could easily avoid such unnecessary sound, the dilapidated floorboards creak under Aveil's weight as she approaches the girl leisurely, taking in the sight of the statue. It is unlike anything she has seen before. Glancing at Kyouko, she drops into a broken pew and kicks her legs up onto the backing of a pew in front of her.]

Seems like you're trying to repent for something, kid.

[She eyes the statue wonderingly, a vague chill sliding down her spine.]

[ Even with the very obvious footsteps, Kyouko doesn't actually turn around to look at the source of the sound until the Gerudo speaks up. At first a look of surprise, perhaps even confusion, slides across her face, but then she seems to recognize the face and relaxes a bit.

She grins, but there's something oddly hollow about it this time. ]

Yeah, I am. [ Not to mention it's usually not really like her to admit it that easily. ] But it's not like I can repent for this anyway. There's no way.

Che, such a sentiment is useless to begin with. There's no use dwelling on the things we can't change, eh?

[She pauses a moment, and then jerks her head toward the statue.]

Are you familiar with...that thing?

[She doesn't like it one bit.]

[ She scoffs a little at the remark, but doesn't say anything else at it - maybe because Aveil is right. But on the other hand.. well, she's dead. What else is there left for her than this, her own personal hell?

Instead she focuses on the statue when Aveil asks her that.

... Her answer comes out perhaps slightly awkwardly though. Or maybe a bit bitter. ] I guess you could say it's an old friend.

[she recognizes the statue all too well, but even so, homura doesn't seem to be all that worried over that, or the ominous music that been playing ever since she took particular notice of it.

She calmly walks up behind the girl, eyes locked upon her figure.]

How much longer are you going to keep doing this, Sakura Kyouko?

It doesn't suit you.

[ Of course she instantly recognizes that voice, and she turns around to face her in just a split second, almost as if she's snapped out of a trance. Her expression is stuck on surprise for a moment, maybe with some of the guilt that was on there before lingering in it.. But she quickly forces a usual grin instead - it's pretty obviously quickly forced though. ]

Oh, you don't think it suits me, Homura? [ She flops back to sit on the statue's base, leaning against the huge statue. ]

I do not.

[her eyes move to the stature, familiar as it is, homura's expression remains as difficult to read as ever.]

Do you really want her seeing you like this?

[ She shrugs, but there's almost a scowl hidden under the grin on her face as she talks. ]

She's gone, right? Not like she could see me anyway. [ She taps a knuckle on the statue behind her. ] That's stone.

[ There was something eerily familiar about this music, and it unsettled Rock more than he cared to admit, a shiver running down his spine as he took in the unfamiliar sight before him. He'd been to a church before obviously, and he knew what they were supposed to look like. But... something about this place just unsettled him deeply. Enough that he was having a hard time actually taking that first step toward the figure in the middle.

Still, he shook his head and forced than anxiety down, taking a step toward Kyouko... and becoming that much more anxious when he heard that same metallic footstep echo back at him. Almost as if announcing his presence. To who (or what), he didn't know. But he wasn't sure he wanted to find out. ]

... Kyouko?

[ She doesn't have to spin around to know who's there, since she obviously immediately recognizes the voice, but yet she does spin around to face him. Even standing in front of the statue still makes her look so tiny compared to it. There might be the briefest flash of surprise on her face, but she quickly surpresses it and gains more of a neutral look. ]

Yo. [ She says it casually, shrugging a little as if it isn't weird at all for him to appear here. ] You here too?

Y-Yeah.. [ He answered absentmindedly, not really paying attention to the brief surprise in Kyouko's face or the way she was trying to casually shrug off his presence in this place. No, right now, Rock couldn't even bring himself to look anywhere but all around him, a part of him somewhat scared that looking away might mean he would've been done for. But that was ridiculous, wasn't it? The place was spacious, with more than enough floor room for Rock to be able to hear anything coming at him well before it became an actual threat. So then why couldn't he shake off this foreboding feeling of dread...? ]

Kyouko, what's going on? [ He finally asked, tearing his eyes away from the surroundings to finally look straight at her. And expressing both his confusion and his anxiety. ] What is this place..?

Don't tell me you've never even seen a church before.

[ There's definitely something tense in her own voice though, even as she tries to act casual about it. She doesn't seem too fazed by the sense of dread hanging in the place - perhaps she doesn't even notice it, but perhaps it's just his presence here that bothers her.

She glances over her shoulder at the statue for a moment before looking back. ]

It's where people come to atone for stuff, yeah?

[ The music is starting to sound a bit louder now - perhaps at a normal level one would listen to music too rather than the soft tune from before. Or it could just be your imagination. ]
