[ History ] :
James Potter I was born March 27th 1960 to Mr and Mrs Potter, two pure-bloods. He attended Hogwarts between the years 1971-1977 in which he was sorted into Gryffindor House and became good friends with three other students; Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. He developed a crush on another Gryffindor by the name of Lily Evans and found it amusing to torment her Slytherin friend, Severus Snape.
During his time at Hogwarts, James became a talented Quidditch player becoming Captain of the Gryffindor Team and playing in two positions; Chaser and Seeker. He also created the Marauders Map along with Sirius, Remus and Peter but that was eventually confiscated by Argus Filch.
In his fifth year, James managed to become an unregistered Animagus along with Sirius and Peter, transforming into a stag, a dog and a rat respectively. This earned him the nickname Prongs and the three of them were finally able to accompany Remus during his transformations into a werewolf in the Shrieking Shack.
By seventh year, James had become more responsible for his actions and was not hexing people for the fun of it and this led to him becoming Head Boy as well as starting to date Head Girl Lily Evans. Within a year of this, they were married and between them gave birth to Harry James Potter on July 31st 1980.
During the First Wizarding War, he fought along his friends and wife defying Lord Voldemort three times. Unfortunately due to the prophecy by Sybil Trelawney, the family had to go into hiding and proclaimed Peter Pettigrew their secret keeper. But they were betrayed and Voldemort killed James before killing Lily and trying to kill Harry.
James lived on in Harry and has been seen in the Mirror of Erised, during Priori Incantatem and through the Resurrection Stone along with Lily, Sirius and Remus.
[ Personality ] :
James’s parents were quite old and wealthy when he was born and spoiled him as he was an only child. This led to him being arrogant and boastful but with a good heart deep down. He also loved being the centre of attention. He had many fans during his Hogwarts years but his eyes were solely fixed on one woman who he antagonized for most of their school lives.
Although he was Head Boy in his seventh year at Hogwarts and eventually a member of the Order of the Phoenix, he never lost the mischievous side which dominated him throughout his youth. And even though he was a pure-blood, he disagreed with blood purity and the prejudice against muggle-borns and werewolves due to his wife and his good friend Remus Lupin.
Despite being an intelligent and talented wizard, James died selflessly, sacrificing himself to try and save his wife and child. This shows loyalty to his loved ones even though his wife also died moments later.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
James is a stereotypical Gryffindor. He’s got the bravery and the courage as well as the intelligence. But he’s also arrogant and lacks maturity until his final year at Hogwarts. This means he will always stick up for his friends and can turn into a stag, but will always want to pull pranks and torment his rival Slytherins.

James squinted behind his glasses as he walked out in the grounds. The exams were finally over and he could relax. Though not tonight. Tonight was a full moon and Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs would be making an appearance shortly at the Whomping Willow.
In truth, James enjoyed these nights. Not because of what his friend would become; he knew that was painful and wouldn’t wish it on anyone, even Snivellus. But he loved his own transformation and the freedom it gave as well as the feeling of walking on all fours. Though he was still catching people with his antlers, he was getting better at controlling them!
He smiled to himself as he walked towards a tree down by the lake. He took the captured snitch from his pocket and twirled it though his hands with practised ease. He missed playing Seeker but realised that he was so much more a Chaser and loved every minute of practice as well as the games, even if being the Captain wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
The tree he had been heading for already had three people underneath it. Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew; his three best friends, and they had waited for him during his exam. It had been the Charms practical exam for their OWLs and as usual, he had come last because they were always done in alphabetical order. ’Someday,’ James thought only slightly bitterly, ’it’ll be in the opposite order and I’ll be first for a change.’ But he knew it was a dream, a fantasy. Just like a kiss from Evans.
He flopped down beside Sirius and started chatting immediately about his performance, his hand still playing with the snitch even though James’s eyes were fixed on his friend. He was sure he’d done well, well enough to take it for a NEWT anyway.
He placed the snitch away and lay down, closing his eyes. At this moment in time, life was good.
