breadboards, hacked toys, circuit bending, self-made media.... all very cool but i've seen very little music coming out of it all. oh dear yes, i just knocked noise-based music. that's unfair but i would like to see someone doing pop tunes on these things, crisp, sexy, rich melodical music. i guess that those key words don't describe much pop music

great post sir, i can recommend looking into autechre and black dice, those guys take apart things and produce 'audible' music out of total noise. it's not pop at all, but the melody and whatever is in there. i reckon buying a synth is an expensive cop-out, since the journey of taking apart things and building your own stuff is sooo much more satisfying than a journey to allan's music bourke street!
