I believe Auriemma has seven titles right now, actually.

I'd link to a good article about Summitt calling off the head-to-head matchup if Deadspin would load.

Here's the fantastic Deadspin article you mentioned, entitled "How Pat Summitt Ruined the Best Thing about Women's Basketball." (Naturally, I wrote the first draft of the Wikipedia entry mentioned in the article.)

Any list of beautiful coaches without Tom Landry and Bear Bryant is incomplete. Landry was the consummate professional; Bryant's coaching was simply perfect.

And both Landry and Bryant had world-class taste in hats.

As a UTK grad, I got to see the women at their height (after having grown up in Virginia Beach when ODU was the greatest women's team). Summit more than made up for the embarrassment that was often Vol's football.

Did you get to see Anne Donovan play at ODU? She also has the distinction of having coached the Storm to its first championship.

She and Nancy Lieberman were what made those teams so great. Used to have programs with their college autographs, but a house fire at mom's house last year took it out.

Bummer. But at least you got to see two electric hall of famers at their peak.
