Today I am sewing the dress I am going to wear for my mother's funeral. I'm doing okay, everybody. I just need to get through tomorrow so I can quit smoking.
im trying something like that too. I picked a skirt from salv army, made it into a jacket and then picked up a velvet bubble skirt from which I will cut the godets. It will either be wonderful or horrid. Do you have an opinion? I cant wait to see the skirt you make.

And a good thing, to be using your hands now. What color will your dress be? (that may be a stupid question, but I have a hard time picturing you in purest black, somehow). I think I wore blue jeans to my mom's funeral, but there were only four of us there in North Dakota, me, my two brothers, and my sister in law, in the June rain. You are in my thoughts. K
I've been thinking of you often these last few days, Shann, checking in to see if you've written anything anywhere I can read it. From what I've read, you seem to be in a much more grounded place with your Mom than I was when my mom died. Nevertheless, such a startling change has to have an impact, so I'm sending you good vibes for ease.
I hope you'll post a photo of yourself in your new dress (or skirt and top, whatever). I always love to see your creativity set to fabric, and I imagine this one will be special -- sort of it's own woo-woo-non-swap event.
I'll light a candle for you all today, and hold you in my highest thoughts.
