Email is no longer relevant as a medium of communicaiton.

Instant messaging works when both file sharing and discussion history are present.

Weblogs are ?

Yes Emails are too formal these days... There is no ability to do the quick response with files or words

i think email is still really useful when you are travelling and want to fill people in on your adventures because often there is a lot to say. i wonder if one day people will reminise about emails the way they do today about snail mail (i get really excited if someone ACTUALLY sends me mail). Plus, I have a lot more friends with email addresses then instant messangers (not everyone has a computer!)

i don't know...i'd say that email is more important that it's ever been. livejournal and similar are great things but...not quite cut out to replace email, imo. for instance, try leaving a comment on lj that only the intended recipient can view. can't be done. and that instant messaging is terribly underused for purposes other than entertainment. instant messaging in an office could easily help streamline workflow. unlike telephones, you can take them at your own pace...

and if you're put on hold, there's no crappy music...
