i-am-girlfriday asked me about good Steve/Kono fanfic at tumblr, and I was originally going to post a list there, but not tonight. I might also sneak some Danny/Kono on the end, because I saw that you liked the idea of them too.

After eight months of yelling at Steve about "due process, motherfucker, they're not just words I made up," Danny's pretty much made peace with the fact that at some point, someone higher up is going to notice all the crazy shit that Steve does and come down hard on them for blatantly violating every single principle that police procedure holds dear. It's going to happen, there's nothing he can do to change that, and he's going to have to be okay with that. After their last few cases, he's at the Zen point of his rage where he's just too tired to give a shit anymore.
And then Kono gets into the act of being Steve McGarrett's protege, and all of Danny's Zen blows up in a cloud of eye-twitching, apoplectic rage that gets him one step closer to the aneurysm that's been threatening for the past year or so.
I think I first read this one when I was a Danny/Kono shipper mostly and found it in a fic hunt. One of my favourite things for H50 fanfic, no matter what pairing or gen, is how they get Danny. If they get him right, I adore it. If they nail him completely, I'm in love. I can sometimes read OOC otps, but when it comes to Danny, and you don't get him right, I have to stop. I love the Danny in this so much.

Kono goes along with Steve's crazy idea and ends up saving his dumb ass.
"Sure, Kono, it'll be fine with just the two of us. We're just doing some recon, nothing bad's gonna happen. It's like a date, we're just getting some work done too."
She was starting to sound like John McClane, muttering to herself while crawling through air ducts in the ceiling, but at least she had shoes on. Admittedly, they were heels, and she'd had to rip about half of her dress off to be able to move around in the thing, but she still felt pretty badass.
Girl saves boy! It's not long, and it just makes me smile in the happy fanfic place. I just adore it.

Kono knows what Steve's idea of family really is: bullshit. Gen
For a while most of the fic I read was in regards to the "Kono storyline", and fixing it. Honestly it makes a little sad when I read it, with the yesssss feelings.
⇒ I'd Like To Know If You'd Be Open to Starting From Scratch
Steve and Kono struggle to find their way back to normal, and discover something even better than before.
But the feelings of bitterness she has buried toward Steve creep up again; she obviously didn't bury them very deep. She's angry and hurt and sometimes she thinks she can get over it and move on and everything is back to normal, and other times she just wants to scream and yell and throw things at him. Her mood switches a dozen times a day, and a dozen more if she happens to see Steve that day. Right now, she doesn't know which choice to go with and she knows avoidance isn't the best tactic but it's all she has the energy to do.
Take all the words in all the languages for favourite, and that might be enough for this story. To be honest, it kind of ruined the show for me. It's the ultimate fix it fic. I didn't want to watch H50 when it was time after this, because this wasn't canon, and how could it measure up? It's not a small one, and I've lost many hours reading this one again.
And another thing that gets this many a bonus point, Lori. It doesn't feature her a lot, but it doesn't hate her. She's smart, she's nice, she's not there just to get into Steve's cargo pants.

Unseen is one of my absolute favourites. Kono and Steve bonding, doing adventurous stuff, and fixing things. And then I saw that there was a sequel, with another sequel (to come one day), and a in between one shot? DEAD.
