My favourite quote of series 2 (actually it was in the Christmas special but hey ho) was not by Maggie but to her.

"What's this?"
"A nut cracker."
Cue quizzical look.
"You know, to crack nuts."

Uttered by the ever feeble Ms. Wilton.

Given the basic feel-good nature of the series, they'll never have a genuine surprise killer for Vera, someone we care about or who has been a "good guy." Either it will turn out be an unknown character, or it will be a) Sir Richard or b) someone hired by Sir Richard (because he has to be gotten out of the picture somehow to clear the way for the utterly boring Mary/Matthew plot, and he [Richard] will have to be de-fanged so that he can't wreak vengeance on Mary. Hanging will do the trick.)
