Changing the subject from Politics (argggh) to Sandy - my friend is running down to NYC tomorrow to help feed 1,000 people. Yes, 1,000 people. The idea was to make chili, so I offered to make vegetarian chili (as I have some friends that are vegetables... vegetarians :)) as I figured everyone would make beef chili. Kinda makes me wanna jump through the screen! I LOVE vegetarian chili and what a brilliant idea. Because not everyone eats meat. And of those of us who eat meat not all of us can digest beef well. What a sweet thing to do. And that's a LOT of chili. I think someone's earned her brownie points for the month

I'm one of the very, very lucky ones Sel. I'm in Sheepshead Bay but my block escaped a lot of damage although there was still flooding around. And on the next block, a lot of downed trees.

yes, apparently some guy came specifically because he heard there was veggie chili!!!!! It was so good that I made another batch - not quite as good, but I think simmering it for 3 hours for the batch for NYC really gave a chance for every spice to gel together nicely. :)
