I am so tired. For the last couple of days I have been up by 6am to get to work early and leave at 4pm to go and visit my mum for a couple of hours, then I come home and try to keep the house in order and talk to other family members asking how Mum is. Went to see my mum this afternoon, she seemed in good spirits despite looking washed out. The rest of the fam turned up (both brothers and partners) so there was a nice family gathering around her bedside for a couple of hours. I went to see my mum, she seemed ok but then they took her down to the operating theatre so we had to leave. They're going to put a metal screw through her ankle to hold everything together I think, but she will likely have to stay there until Wednesday at least, to get used to standing up and using crutches etc. or whatever they're going to give ( Read more... )

My mum is in the hospital. :-( She fell this morning when she was walking the dog and has broken her ankle and fractured a shin bone. She's currently at the A&E waiting for a surgeon to see to her. Finally started reading Harry Potter today. I'm 2 chapters gone. But I ain't one of these speed-reading types so don't expect me to be done with it for at least a month. ;-) Oh, and OUR front cover looks completely different to the American one. :-P

Well I guess this is our 9/11. What a terrible state of affairs. What's also quite scary is that I was supposed to be going up to London tomorrow for that conference. How terrifying.
