I'm curious about something.

So, it seems to be a common mentality among a certain stripe of dude that the only possible reason a woman would want to dress nicely is to, ahem, attract a mate. Which I find odd because usually when I make an effort to dress nicely, the reason--if I even have a reason outside of "because I felt like it when I was

I find there are different categories to dressing nicely, and the one you pick correlates to the amount of male attention you get. If you mean 'nicely' as in 'nicely for going out to a party' or 'nicely because this dress is adorable', it will garner male attention. If you dress 'nicely' as in 'these clothes are appropriate for an office', guys back off. There's also a certain level of dressing well where you begin to appear thoroughly out of the league of creepy dudes who randomly approach women.

And this is going to sound terrible, but being as that I am a taller, white, overweight woman with very short hair, I will automatically get less attention from creepers than you do simply because you are small, long-haired, and asian.
