I'll Write My Own Comeback Song

I've been neglecting you, internet! Sorry about that, but things have been pretty buzzing around here, and so doing stuff took priority over talking about doing stuff for a while there. Don't worry, it won't happen again! I can almost guarantee it!

When did we last speak? God, it's been almost a month! Well, let's see... I had posted some piccies of my car... Ah, right! I got my stereo all hooked up by AutoBarn, and I'm bloody happy with it. There's a slight vibration in the parcel shelf on some of the heavier bass notes, but outside of that I've been loving just driving around and rocking out. Cost about $700 all up (including installation) so the money pit of that week continued. And it kept going even on Saturday, when I got a new phone from Kris! Pretty happy with that, too, a Nokia 6101, and now whenever I get a message the 1-up sound from Sonic 2 greets me. It's dorky but I love it.

One of the big things we did which I scandalously didn't tell you about was we went to the Crows vs Fremantle qualifying final! It was great fun, although it looked like the Crows were gonna break our hearts for the first three quarters. We had some great seats in the outer, and while it wasn't a sell-out, the crowd were nice and vocal. I was struggling to speak by the end of it, let me tell you. Now, thanks to Vick, we've got tickets for the Crows vs Eagles preliminary final as well! The seats aren't going to be anywhere near as good (bring binoculars) but just being there's gonna be great. It'll be my first live Prelim, let me tell you.

The basketball team has been struggling lately, unfortunately, with our line up taking a couple of hits, and while I've been doing well individually (30 points in two games, people!) we've been just dropping short. Our D is solid, but we (myself included) really need to drive in more and hit our shots on the offence. Unfortunately we're a bit height-poor, so driving on some of the bigger dudes is quite intimidating. While I still scored in the double figures last week (in another close loss) I got swatted a couple of times, too.

Speaking of basketball, my brother's future brother-in-law Daniel has his own basketball team that plays up at Golden Grove, and they needed a fill-in the other week (for their first game!) and I got the call up. Did okay, but the difference between div 1 and 2 in this Wednesday league and my usual E Grade shenanigans on Monday was like night and day. We lost, for the record, and I got four points and three fouls in no time at all. They got me in last week as well, and with all the enthusiasm of a guy who's just had a bird crap on his shoes, Daniel signed me up as a regular player ("you might as well play"). While I certainly don't mind more sport, I already play badminton for a hour at lunch with the guys from work on Wednesdays, so it's certainly becoming excercise day! The other problem is that, quite frankly, Daniel isn't the kind of guy I want to play sport with. Arguing with the refs, and throwing himself around more like he's playing football than basketball. The rest of the team's alright, though, including my bro Ellis, who tells me that Daniel and co have actually already been banned from one stadium!

What else, what else? Oh, I know! There was a small article about me and the other graduate, Debdeep, in the latest UniSA newsletter. I may have mentioned it, I don't remember - but thankfully they didn't use any of the photos taken that day, they were shockers. You can read a short quote from me and a lot of backslapping by the University (and my real name! Gasp!) here.

Well, that's about it for now, I'll let you know how the prelim goes, and anything else that comes to mind. Until then, take it easy!
