I have to say, I've never disagreed with a publication more about movies, than Village Voice. Their definition of a good movie seems poorly written.
Almost every single movie they panned is on my favorites list. Well, they did like Ghost World, Solaris(highly underrated and interesting), and Dancer in the Dark. However, they hated my Hedwig, Blow, Fight Club, About a Boy, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Sleepy Hollow. Strangely, they liked Godzilla:2000. WTF?!? Even the fun Snatch is panned. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the movies they hate, deserve the hatred. I could barely tolerate Alex&Emma and The Scorpion King. Nonetheless, I find much of their opinions pretenious and idiotic. How can one say Seredipity or Rock Star is better than About a Boy. How is that thought even plausible? They hated Shakespeare in Love (a good, not great movie) and American Beauty, but say good things about Scooby Doo and The Santa Clause? I don't fucking get it. !!?!?
here is the evil source I've also decided that I'm going to try to add the occasional movie review here. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts. I'm a complete movie nerd.
