Glad to hear an update...celticmoonlightMay 26 2006, 21:35:13 UTC
It sounds like Houston has treated you very kindly. My sister has now moved on to Tyler, TX from Shreveport since They have so much to offer to Katrina evacuees from LA. I hate that she's so far away now.
I'm glad to hear that you're returning, and I can't even immagine how difficult it must be to live so far away from your spouse. I'm sure you'll find a job in the NOLA metro area. Even though a lot of schools are now shut down, there are a lot of people who relocated elsewhere. For example, if someone from St. Bernard or N.O. East worked in Metairie, but found better opportunity if they relocated elsewhere, they likely would do so... especially those who have no deep roots in New Orleans. It seems like people are moving around like crazy, from here to there and everywhere.
I'm sad that so many friends and family members have left, but at the same time it makes me happy to hear when good citizens return.
Thank you. I was driving over 50 miles a day to and from work this past year, so I'm open to a position just about anywhere. With Houston being so ridiculously spread out, I'm ready for the nice compact area of metro NOLA. I just hope I can handle teaching in New Orleans after being part of such a successful, high performing school district in Texas.
I'm excited about coming back home. I haven't had an oyster or softshell crab in nine months...and the only coffee shops I've seen are all Starbucks.
