About 99% of this part had me killing myself laughing, so I'm not quoting the funny bits. But this:

were just perfect. Yes, the first one was there to provide the laugh at John being gay/BFF but these are the little bits in fic - where we see that John and Rodney really are best friends - that I love, so I glossed over the played for laughs bit.
