For any mundane, non-critical one-on-one interactions with the scientist here, whether it be poking him for whatever reason, maintaining continuity, throwing him an item, or in general doing something that isn't momentous enough to require a whole post or log for it.

Type of Thread: Action
Location: Robert's apartment

[It's still fairly early in the morning when Don knocks on Robert's door, ready to commence their vigil for Helios' return. He still looks pretty roughed-up from last week's draft, but his spirits are good, and the bandage on his leg is gone. He's a little nervous about what Helios' "death loss" might be, but no matter what he'll be glad to see his friend again, as he's glad to see Robert now. It's their first time being alone together since the battle.]

Hi.

[Robert answers the door almost immediately, looking a little strained - worrying will do that to you, as will not sleeping the best - but happy to see Don. Yes, it has been awhile since they've been together alone, and he's glad that Don wanted to spend some time with him to help this vigil for Helios.]

Hello, Don...

... I know it is early, but... nothing yet. [Not that Robert expected there to be. But Don should be able to tell that Robert has been obsessively watching the journal transmissions anyway. After all, he has his journal propped open at the couch, clearly at an angle where it can be obsessively stared at without moving.]

[Don follows Robert in, looking around at the state of the apartment.]

Did you sleep last night?

[The apartment is... not in disrepair by any means, but it's evident that Robert hasn't cleaned it as obsessively as usual yet.]

... Not well, admittedly.

I... I worry. Very much. [Probably way too much, but it's Helios, the person who means the second-largest amount to him in Luceti.]

Have you had breakfast, at least?

[It strikes Don as a little odd, to be asking these questions... usually he's the one who has to be reminded to eat and sleep.]

[He just shakes his head, his eyes lingering too long over the journal propped up at the couch.]

... I have not been able to focus, properly...

[This should underscore the other reasons Robert wanted Don here.]

[Don watches Robert closely, worried at the unusual vacantness in his expression.]

Did something happen?

... No, but... I... [Quietly:] I know he will r-return, but... but, with so much happening over the last while... [Robert exhales. That vacantness is a symptom of his almost desperate attachment to Helios - one that he has for Don as well, if not even moreso.]

...

I hope he returns today.

Come on. [Don gestures for Robert to take the journal and follow him into the kitchen.]

[Robert nods and scoops the journal up almost protectively into his arms before walking with Don into the kitchen. It's another chance to notice how scuffed-up Don looks from the war - his shell is covered in small nicks and pockmarks, and Robert wonders if there might not be some way to deal with it.]

... Are you f-feeling better, Don...? You still look... somewhat battered.

[Don glances over his shoulder. He may or may be aware of all the new scrapes and scuffs on his shell, and the rest of his injuries are, to a ninja, not even worth noticing.]

Do I?

[He starts pulling out pots and pans.]

What's Terran comfort food?

Yes, you do... and it is a little alarming. [Robert keeps wanting to run his fingers over the nicks now that he notices them, like everything he gets obsessive about. Only this might be something he could fix to an extent.]

... Ah, well. I... have a fondness for blueberry pancakes.

...

I understand if that is somewhat infeasible, though. I'm not even sure if I have the proper ingredients...

[Robert gnaws his lip gently, mentally going over the ingredients list in his head.]

[Don twists a little further, trying to see his own shell, since that seems to be what Robert is mainly talking about.]

It's that bad?

[Then he twists back, rubbing his head and looking around the kitchen.]

Do you have any mix?

Reply

semper_cogitans June 12 2011, 02:42:50 UTC
Yes. I assume it is only surface damage, but... there is much in the way of small scratches and scars on your carapace. [The scientist walks over to Don's side, looking at his shell more closely even as he makes a motion to help Don look for the mix.]

I believe so... though I would generally make it from a recipe, but that may take more time than we have in this case.

[Obsessively studying the journal clearly takes a lot of time and effort.]

[Such is the life of a ninja turtle. Don sighs and rolls his shoulders.]

It doesn't hurt, anyway.

I'm not very good at pancakes, but if you have a cookbook I can try...

... Still, there may be a way to deal with it... But I am glad it does not harm you.

[His mind is definitely thinking about that Vitashell now, though.]

And... yes, I do have cookbooks. Many of them. [Robert walks over to a drawer, organized meticulously, and after only a moment removes one that consists of breakfast food recipes. It only takes a few minutes to locate a pancake recipe in the table of contents.]

... Would this help? I think I have most of these ingredients on-hand...
