Chapter 24
A few weeks later Shako and Daiki were standing in a pet shop looking at all the puppies. After spending time with all the kids, they decided to get a pet because they wanted to liven up their home.
“Nee Daiki! Look over here! Isn’t she SO cute!” Shako was pointing to a tiny teacup poodle. It was sleeping and lying about lazily in its cage.
“Shako, you’ve said the same thing for every dog we’ve seen all day.” He walked over to look at the puppy. “It’s cute… but didn’t you say you wanted a lively puppy?”
“I’ve only been saying that because they’re all so cute…” Shako pouted as she continued walking along. “Dai-chan! Look at this one! It looks like she wants to come home with us!” There was a Yorkshire Terrier pawing at the wall of the cage.

Shako was holding the dog as Daiki and Shako walked home. They bought all the stuff they needed to take care of the little dog and including a leash yet Shako wanted to carry it. The puppy formed an immediate bond with both Shako and Daiki and licked both their faces the second they picked her up in the store. Shako was already cuddling with her.
“Hmmm… Your name’s going to be Nami nee? How do you like that name?” when the puppy yapped happily Shako giggled. “You like it nee? Ja, from now on we’ll call you Nami. Isn’t that such a nice name Dai-chan?” she turned to her boyfriend.
“It’s perfect.” Daiki smiled at the two of them, patting Nami on the head.

It wasn’t very hard to train Nami to stay off the couch or off of Daiki and Shako’s bed. The only problem they had was training her to use the washroom OUTSIDE instead of inside the house.
“Nami-chan! Mou~ why can’t you go outside?” Daiki was cleaning up Nami’s mess for the nth time that day. He was frustrated because no matter what he did, Nami wouldn’t go outside to do her business. It would always be in the house. He tried locking her in their laundry room for a few hours and then letting her outside but he’d always find a puddle in the laundry room. And when he let her outside, she would make a run for it. Nami would always run to the nearby park. It was a shock that she wasn’t hit by any cars.
Others times Daiki tried to train Nami using those special mats though for some reason, she would just ignore it and do her business wherever.
“Dai-chan, you can’t yell at her. She won’t listen then.” Shako stood at the doorway watching Daiki clean up the floor. It was a stupid decision to get carpeted floors all over the house.

Daiki eventually gave up and let Shako train Nami. Nami liked Shako more than Daiki and he hoped that would convince her to listen. Of course since Shako was much kinder and gentler with Nami, she eventually trained her to go outside.
“Dai-chan can you show me where Nami’s gone in the house? I need to know the exact spots.”
Daiki got up from his spot on the couch and pointed to one spot on the floor. “Here is where she normally goes. There’s another spot by the doorway” Daiki walked over to that spot and pointed it out. “Why do you need to know this anyway? I already cleaned up the mess…”
“You see Dai-chan, that’s where you’re wrong. Haven’t you ever heard that dogs can smell like 1000000 times better than humans? When you cleaned up, what did you use?”
“Uh…Mr. Clean?”
“YOU WHAT?!?! Dai-chan! You can’t use Mr. Clean on the CARPET! No wonder she’s constantly going INSIDE the house!”
“What’s wrong with Mr. Clean? The guy on the bottle’s cool.” (For those who don’t know what a bottle or Mr. Clean looks like:

“But the smell’s too powerful! That’s the reason why she keeps going here.”
“How do you know all this anyway Shako? Last time I checked you weren’t a dog trainer…”
“They’re called books Dai-chan. I went to the library a few weeks ago and looked up some tips. Apparently they worked since I’ve finally trained Nami-chan.”
“Hai hai…you finally trained her…” Daiki didn’t want to let Shako win this one.
“Guess what I also did. Nami-chan come here!” Nami-chan ran into the room when she heard her name. Shako pulled a bag from the kitchen cupboard and pulled out a treat. “Ready?” Daiki nodded. Shako took the treat and held it in front of Nami. “Nami-chan~ Bang!” Shako held her fingers at Nami like a gun and the puppy lay down on her back. “Good job!” she gave the treat to the ‘dead’ puppy.
“Wow Nami! You did a good job too didn’t you girl?” he bent down to scratch behind her ears. He was clearly impressed which made him forget about the fact that he couldn’t train the dog. Shako pouted when she saw the affection Daiki was giving the dog.
“What about me? I taught her that~ Don’t I get a reward?” Shako whined.
“You get an even better reward from me Shako~” Daiki pecked his girlfriend on the lips which made her blush furiously. One would think that after being together for almost three years, Shako wouldn’t go crazy over every single thing Daiki did. At that time, Shako was only expecting a pat on the head or something. Not a kiss.
“So where are we going today, Nami-chan?” Daiki asked the little puppy since Shako was too dumbstruck to say anything. Nami yapped in her high pitched voice. “The park? You want to go for a walk? Of course we can~ Let’s go get your leash nee?” Daiki was talking to the dog even though she couldn’t understand. “Shako, are you coming?” Daiki waved his hand in front of the mesmerized girl.
“Eh?” she blinked, snapping back into reality, “of course!” Daiki grabbed her hand their fingers intertwining and they walked out of the home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Nami-chan! Matte! Wait!” They were at the park and Daiki accidentally let the leash slip from his hands. He was now playing a game of cat and mouse with the little pup. Shako couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Nami-chan and Daiki were playing their game for a full ten minutes until Nami ran to someone.
“Nami-chan! Dame*! You can’t jump on strangers!” Daiki was bent over and couldn’t see who Nami-chan was yapping at and jumping on. Daiki picked up the little dog and looked up to apologize to the person. “Ah~ I’m so sor- are? Yabu-kun?!” Daiki was looking up at his senpai.
“Arioka-kun! How are you? I haven’t seen you in a while! Shako too!” by then Shako had run up to where they were and was standing behind Daiki.
“Oh, hi Yabu-kun. How’s Chisa?” Even though they were best friends, Shako hadn’t heard much from Chisato lately.
“She’s fine…just going crazy over packing for when we move.” Yabu was going to move off campus into a home he and Chisato bought. “OH! That’s right! I was supposed to call you guys tonight! But since I found you here I might as well invite you… Anyway do you two want to come camping next weekend? Chisato and I are going so we can give space to the contractors at our house. Chisa’s going crazy over the fact. She needs to let go sometimes…So what about it? Are you guys coming?”
“Next weekend…I can probably get off work….what about you Dai-chan?” Shako turned to Daiki who was trying to keep Nami still.
“Nami-chan no!” He tapped her on the nose. “Eh? Umm yeah I can get off work too probably. It’s just for a few days right?”
“Yup, we leave Friday afternoon and come back Sunday. Is that alright?” Yabu was making sure that they were free.
“Of course it’s okay Yabu-kun! We’ll see you on Friday then~ Bye bye!” Shako, Daiki and energetic little Nami headed home looking forward to the camping trip.
A/N- For this chapter I actually did a little research XD See…I don’t have a dog…closest thing I’ve been to having a dog is walking my aunt’s. She was taking care of someone else’s puppy on top of taking care of her own dog so I helped…the puppy wasn’t potty trained and DANG dog urine STINKS…I really like teacup doggies cuz they're so small and cute ^_^ This time though i decided to go with a yorkshire terrier cuz my aunt has one and he's soooooo nice for a dog. Nami means wave if anyone was wondering... Though there's no relation to anything about the dog. I just liked the name....enough about that…. So Daiki and Shako camping…what’s going to happen? O_o who knows….okay I know….but you don’t XD Ja. Comments and Criticisms are love <3
