with regard to the flippant comment, I thought this too initially, but then considered that if one were to compare listener figures with tv and film watching figures, it would not be too great a leap to suggest that the quantity of visual programmes consumed, though perhaps not the quality, vastly outweighs the auditory medium thus allowing for greater career prospects in that industry. However there is an interesting case to be made about the senses which relates to your second comment. There is a common agreement prevaling in academia at the moment that the visual (which includes texts) has been too strongly weighted in intellectual circles over the other perceptive senses, and that these should be more strongly recognised and investigated.
