I've just ended watching Judge End first raw and now have kinda mixed feelings. But in general I can say that I want to watch more. Seeing them all again on the TV screen, not only in the games is good thing in general. ( Spoilers ALERT )
Well, I'll definitely be skipping the intro. Synthesized Scream-o? No thanks.
It was basically a clip show until the fight scenes, which were the highlight.
Yukimura's character development retconned, blast it now he's annoying me again. Sasuke's design looks weird to me.
I was hoping the entire Date army would be there to get slaughtered. That was so brutal in the manga. Hoped it would get animated. However seeing my Kojuro getting slashed up protecting Masamune is always welcome.
They did Mitsunari way better this time. I actually sympathized with him. All previous versions, I was indifferent to his situation. I really like how he didn't immediately use his sword on Ieyasu. This time around, Ieyasu really looked like the bad guy.
Overall I enjoyed it. I'll be looking forward to more. Hope Funimation gets on this one too.
Edit
Funimation already has the rights and are supposed to be doing simulcasts *squee*
I haven't seen it yet, though I did look at some reviews to know what to expect. I have been waiting for a translated version, because my understanding of Japanese is basically only a word here and there! I'm really glad Funimation is picking it up for simulcast -- but I may have to break down and watch the raw, just to hear everyone's voices again and see some SB action. ;-)
Funimation will be airing the episodes streaming on Saturdays, according to what I read at Anime News Network. I believe the simulcast will be for the English subbed version but a dubbed version will be available, as well -- if not immediately, then eventually. That's how it worked with SB2 Samurai Kings, as I recall.
I watched it yesterday, and I was pleased with what I saw. Glad that they explained why Ieyasu defected from Hideyoshi. New guy is Sakai Tadatsugu, one of Ieyasu's favorite commanders. let the shipping commence! Was shocked that it's a lot bloodier than the previous seasons. Yukimura's eyebrows are...weird. I guess I'll get used to them in time?
I'm personally waiting for the subbed version too. ^^;; I watched a bit but...I hate feeling like I'm missing so much! Wish I knew more Japanese if only to get a little bit of what is going on. The trailer I watched though, of course, and from what I can gather on here, seems to be a little misleading in terms of character longevity (okay what I'm really asking is Otani gonna be around to awesomely creep me out for a while?) it seems? (Hideyoshi and Hanbei featured heavily in the trailer but it sounds like they were both dispatched in the first episode.) I'm really surprised there's no fansubbed version yet. Although Funimation always puts out quality subs, so I can wait if it comes to that. :)
Animation....arrghh I'm so torn on this one! Ultimately to me, Studio I.G. is the face of the Sengoku Basara anime, so I have to dock big points for that. On the other hand though, it still looks pretty good. Motochika in particular really struck me with the revamp
( ... )
The graphics, specifically the colors kinda hurt my eyes, but for more Senbasa, I'll endure. Sanada's wide headband makes his forehead look huge, but I like his slender, muscular waist ^w^ His attitude though.. typical hotheaded Yukimura-dono (can I smack him? just once?) lol What's up with Sasuke-dono's design, seriously? But I hope we see more of the ninjas. And the KojuMasa! Kojuurou-dono really loves his Masamune-sama XD I hope we see them emo over each other's injuries again *hopeful* Did Mitsunari always run like that..? His right arm looks odd to me when he does. But his flashbacks have blood spattering them..? It suits him, but still... Wao Hideyoshi looks like he has a sunburn, and Hanbei is purple-er than usual. We see more of the blood when people get cut! And the splashes are so pretty :D And some ppl finally died! In the SenBasa anime, people (that are not random mooks) so rarely die. My guilty pleasure ^0^ I hope that this anime series runs longer than the others did, but I'm not holding my breath either.
XD, glad to see another KojuMasa fan. I so, SO enjoyed the first episode because of that! Episode 2 was pretty grim all around, but I adored seeing Sasuke and Yukimura fight together (though I will never get used to Yukimura's eyebrows, which look like caterpillars trying to escape his face)! Poor Kojuurou just isn't getting a break so far this season, oh my god! I hope this is expanded on a little bit because it feels a little bit like they're just stripping Kojuurou of his canon power. I loved seeing more of Otani, and seeing as this seems to be borrowing a ton of plotlines (basic outline?) from the third game, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of him. (I love Otani/Mitsunari and their twisted relationship.)
Ieyasu's subordinate still isn't impressing me. Give me more Tadakatsu damnit. Also, is it just me or does Ieyasu kind of look like he belongs in a different anime altogether? XD;; It's like...the face or something doesn't fit with the rest of the designs.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the entire thing so far though. ;)
