In short: School is my life, but that doesn't really bother me. I've always been a nerd, and my love affair with learning is being fully utilized. There are plenty of downsides that need not be stated though. Repeating them just justifies their existence, which I'd rather not. Optimism is key, especially as finals approach. I've worked myself ( Read more... )

I've been reading about cellular respiration and it's been kicking my ass. Electron transport chains and phosphorylation and whatnot. Some of it's not that bad, I can get down with photosynthesis, but basically chemistry is ruining my biology class. Can you visualize it, Aziza? That's my problem, I can't visualize all these reactions.

I have no real strengths in Biology. In terms of Chemistry though, I can see reactions as simply interplay between forces. Positive attracts negative (whether formal or partial) and vice versa. Stronger bonds are less likely to break the weaker ones. Reactions tend to go towards the easiest-made and most stable product. Knowning those basics usually make reactions far easier to understand. I might be able to help if only I remembered ANYTHING about cellular respiration. That's 10th grade Bio for me . . . I'm embarrassed I don't know any of it anymore. I could probably look at the molecules and figure out something though. Maybe. Don't want to give myself too much credit.

I've turned into such a nerd ever since I got in college...

I will be proud though, I will be proud.

From reading your entry, however, now I want some pineapple! :)

After all this time knowing you, I don't even know what your major is. Enlighten me?

Beware of eating too much fresh pineapple. I remember one summer I ate half of a huge one and couldn't taste anything at all for the next 24 hours. Just burnt my taste buds clean off . . .

Ohhh, I know what you are talking about with the taste buds... it's nature's way of saying "stop gluttonizing" (that was silly, I know).

My major is photography... although I do need to have a back-up on this just incase it doesn't work out.

Ah, photography, that's awesome. I always kind of wanted to get into that, developing my little treasures in a dark room. It didn't really manifest itself though. Do you have any favorite photographers?
