Word of Mouth

I never really update nowadays (life and work takes priority, and they keep me busy), but I just had to say that I absolutely loved The Dark Knight.  Best thing I've seen in a while.  Holy crap, I want to see it again.  And the new season of Doctor Who is phenomenal.  And:  I'm going to totally nerd out this weekend, because I'm planning on going ( Read more... )

I don't really know anything about comics but I wanted to add that the preview for Watchmen that showed before Dark Knight looked absolutely incredible. I never read it but I've heard of it. A friend of mine who is really into comics says his favorite is Watchmen. And I enjoyed The Dark Knight a lot as well, especially when I realized the double entendre of the title. I used to watch the Batman cartoon when I was younger, so I got really excited also when I finally realized in the middle of the movie that Harvey Dent was Two-Face, which of course I should have realized earlier. But anyway, yeah, it was a really cool movie.

Oh hell yeah. The Watchmen trailer was really awesome. There is going to be a lot of hype about it at Comic Con, so I'm interested in picking up a copy and checking it out; it's written by the same guy who wrote the V for Vendetta comic books which was a story I found interesting.
I kind of knew before seeing the movie that Harvey Dent would become Two-Face, but the two guys that I went with had no idea until later on. To be honest, the plot was really more about Harvey Dent than Batman, but that worked very well. And I know everyone has been saying it, but how seriously amazing was Heath Ledger's Joker?

The Joker was awesome but I think talks about an Oscar are kind of ridiculous. The character I remember from the cartoons was really silly but this homicidal maniac is a lot more fun. The part where the guy on the noose falls onto the window while the Mayor and Dent are talking was really scary. But I was kind of disappointed in the makeup, I think it could have been a lot scarier.

I'm really excited to see where the future movies go... especially to see the next villain. Catwoman is fine but I really want to see Poison Ivy and The Penguin. I could do without Robin. But yeah, darkness makes things so much better. It seems like Hollywood is finally starting to take comic books seriously. Not that I ever read them but they deserve that respect. I also thought Aaron Eckhard did a really good job with Harvey Dent.

the Batman Begins saga follows the earlier and more dark Batman comics. The Joker that Heath Ledger played was very much in the same vein, thats why the characters seem much different than the Cartoons and Tim Burton movies.

Ziza, I forgot to ask, are you seeing the X-Files movie?? I have tickets with my Dad for the show at midnight tonight. Honestly I'm not expecting it to be that good but hopefully that means I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm planning on seeing it, but probably not opening weekend like I just had to with the Dark Knight. Also, I don't think I'll have time during the convention to go. I want it to be good. I just don't know what to expect. I never saw the first x-files movie so I don't really know how well it adapts to that medium.
Are you excited though?

I would be, since I've been waiting with extreme anticipation since January. But suddenly like yesterday I realized, perhaps just being honest with myself, it could very well be bad. So right now I'm not really feeling anything. Do you realize, while you're going to be at a comic convention, there's also a huge MUFON UFO convention this weekend in San Jose? And, like, I'm sure they're all gonna go see the movie together in huge nerd packs? Tough choice right there.
