Bleach Anime Ending Next March

From the one quote in the article, this seems like a fairly recent development. From what I've read, the ratings have been slipping for a while, probably due to the gazillion filler arcs that were placed in HM storyline.

Yeah. I heard about this about a week ago. Shounen Jump's front page had "Bleach-the Final Arc" and an article concerning the ending. I'm going to miss Bleach. In a way, some of the fillers weren't as bad as a few of the story arcs. On a scarier note, Warner Bros. has purchased the rights from Kubo and are planning a live action movie. Be afraid.

I just reread this. I hadn't heard the anime was ending in march. You would think they would at least do the last arc and finish the series right.

I'm guessing the studio doesn't want to take the chance that this final arc will drag out another five years like the HM arc did. I think there were at LEAST three filler arc placed in the HM arc, of various quality, and that really killed the pacing. At least the Bount arc came at the end of the S.S. and kind of flowed into the next one. But the voice-over of "Well, we've gotta take a break..."? Yeah. That said, I'd hope TPTB will at least do a movie/special/OVA to wrap up the series when it finally does end. After nine seasons on the air, I think fans should have at least that.

I heard about the WB movie rights at another comm, and was like O_O DO NOT WANT in any way, shape or form.
