How my new year has begun
Sooo... What to tell?
Let's just say first that I suffer from a major writer's block, which succesfully forced me to drop out from KakaIru Christmas Fanfic Challenge. Yeah, not nice. I feel kind a blue because of it. Then again, I've been really into another fandom for a few months, more and more lately. It has really taken my time, especially since it has been rather quiet in KakaIru-fandom both here in LJ and FF.net. I've actually even scribbled some sort of fanfictions, which is a first for me outside Naruto-fandom. And what fandom has captured me so intensely?
Transformers.
That's right, I've fallen for the big, destructive and heroic fighting robots: the movies, G1, Transformers: Prime and recently I downloaded all three seasons of Transformers: Animated. I've got comics already and almost squeled when I found a Transformers: Animated Jazz-toy in the daycare I do my internship. Heck, I even check the TFwiki dailyand have bought some comics and make my friends to listen about my babbling/ranting about TF - but in return I listen to their rants, like how Sherlock Holmes-movies suck and BBC rules the universe. (Still can't stop grinnig at their reactions after seeing Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, which can be summed in fours words; " I need a cigarette", followed by a silence, puffs of smoke and outraged hissing of sorts.)
But to be honest, I liked Transformers long before the movies, when they showed Transformers: Armada in TV here. The movies just rekindled it, especially Transformers: Dark of the Moon. It has also been quite interesting for me to notice that for the first time I find a fandom where I like multiple pairings, instead of just one and I don't mind if the characters are paired with someone else in different universes. In example, I like movie!Ratchet with movie!Ironhide but G1!Ratchet I like better with either G1!Wheeljack or G1!Sunstreaker&G1!Sideswipe.
Anyway, enough with my new favorite fandom, which clearly has eaten my time from beloved KakaIru. Other things have also happened to me. Like, my third and last internship began on the 2nd this month in a nearby day-care. This time I'm not with preschoolers but the kids ages are from 2-6 and they are soooo lovely. Okay, temper-tantrums happen almost daily and I need to change diapers and clean potties but I also play with them, read books, pet and calm them down when it's time for a nap. My fourth week begins tomorrow, which means I have six more to go. Gosh, time has gone fast. I really, really want to work with children and in daycare, this only makes my wishes stronger than before.
What else?
Okay, let's talk about politics. Finland's next president might be a gay man. Seriously. Today was the pre-election and he got to the second round, which means it's going to be very interesting few weeks for our little country. While I personally see this as an achievement and something to be proud of, that our nation is ready to accept a member from a sexual minority as our political leader, I also hope that people haven't been voting for him just because he's a gay. Personally, I didn't vote for him because of his sexual orientation. He represents The Greens of Finland, which match best for my political interest. But... We will see what will happen in the final election.
There's finally snow, too. The Christmas and New Years were kinda glum because there was almost none of it but in the past two weeks it has snowed closer 30cm or more. The only bad thing about it is that once again public transportations like trains are in deep shit because of it. Weird, huh? It's not like it snows every freaking winter?!? Still, I find it beautiful and a lot nicer when there's snow on the ground.
... Yeah, I think this pretty much summarizes my first few weeks in 2012. Nothing more to say. Oh! I went skating yesterday for the first time in several years and I'm happy that my legs aren't killing me as badly as I thought they would. Now I'm off to bed, since my shift starts 06.45 am and I need to have a shower and at least six hours of sleep!
