well, if you look at it from an existential point of view- your paper may not even truly exist therefore, it is entirely possible that it is an unknown. if you do not know that it exists, who is to say that you should even have to work on it, because there is the possibility that the paper was already finished and graded long before you sat down to work on it... and you probably rocked on it anywat, so no worries.
