Chad
It was kind of weird to think about it; sure, he had a few days left, but, when those few days were over, he'd be leaving Fandom. Very weird. But, Chad told himself, it would be a good change. He was going to grow in New York just as he had here in Fandom.
...Figuratively, of course. Not actually. If he grew any more, he'd be too tall to get a good modeling career.
It was a good day for packing, he decided. It was Cinco de Mayo. It was a day that, for years, had meant remembering people he loved. There was a little mariachi band providing a soundtrack and he was saving putting a certain collection of similarly themed objects away. A monkey. Some little tiny bongo drums. A mariachi jacket. He had a lot of good years here...
Teddy
Teddy hoped there were a few more days left, but after his discussion with whoever that had been in the park...
"Chad?" He said, knocking on the door and looking around warily.
Chad
"Hey, Ted," Chad grunted, frowning a moment at two CDs in his hand. He held one of them up. "Which do you think is more expendable, best of Metallica or best of Sabbath?"
Teddy
"...Sabbath," He said, not really thinking about it. Teddy shook his head, clearing it of Chad's taste in music. "I think something might be happening back home."
Chad
Chad let out a little grumble of uncertainty at Teddy's answer before the rest of what Teddy said caught up with him. He blinked, and his frown deepened. "Something? Like what?"
Teddy
"I don't know." He started pacing by the door. "I saw Mr. Beaubier in the park and he was acting really weird and told me to stay out of Skrull business."
Chad
"...Weird how?" Chad asked, after a moment, setting the CDs aside for a moment, crossing his arms over his chest with a thoughtful frown.
Teddy
"Weird weird." Helpful, Teddy. "I don't know, just not acting like himself."
Chad
Chad grunted, thoughtfully.
"Weird."
Teddy
Helpful. Which is why Teddy shot him a look for it. "This was, like, Cap and Iron Man fighting weird."
Chad
Chad didn't know exactly what that meant, but he thought maybe he could make a guess.
"Like...Ichigo and Uryuu getting along weird?"
Teddy
"...he the guy with the weird cape?"
Chad
Chad grunted. "Yeah, that one."
Teddy
"Yeah, that kind of weird," Teddy said after a moment. "I think I should get going sooner than I planned."
Chad
"...Have you talked to your sister at all?" Chad asked. "If something was going on, maybe she'd know...?"
Teddy
"I haven't gotten a response since I tried to ask her to graduation," Teddy said, taking a careful seat on the bed. "That should have been a warning sign."
Chad
Chad grunted again, because, yeah, that definitely didn't bode well. He thought for a moment, coming up with not much, and then went to go sit beside Teddy.
"You got any ideas on what to do?"
Teddy
"I don't know." Teddy leaned against him slightly. "I need to get away from people in case that was a threat."
Chad
Chad's arms went around Teddy, a naturally protecting gesture. "Think it was?"
Teddy
"I don't know. He didn't do anything else."
Chad
"Maybe...." Chad paused, considering things carefully. "Think we should go check it out?"
He barely kept himself from emphasizing the we. Last thing he needed was for Teddy to start worrying about him, too. But he'd probably worry, anyway.
Teddy
"We?" Teddy might have been hugging his waist now.
Chad
"If there's trouble, Teddy," Chad muttered, hoping he didn't actually have to tell Teddy this for him to know it, "you're not handling it alone, you know."
Teddy
Teddy nodded once silently. "If something happens, you run and get help."
Chad
"That makes it sound like I'd ever let anything happen to you."
Teddy
Teddy just hugged him tighter. Because, really, what else could he do?
Chad
And Chad hugged him tightly back. He was quiet for a long moment, trying not to think of how, if something was wrong, how of course it would happen now.
But better now than in a few days, when they wouldn't be together.
