A letter

Dear FaceBook,

Get your act together before. This current site mismanagement mixed with feature updates that your users hate is just asking to become the next Friendster.

One day, you too will go the way of Geocities. Don't encourage your own demise.

You can find me under Jorge Montes; look for a picture of artist's model figurines (the wooden kind). Or you can just give me your name and I'll find and add you.

I'm doing well. Very very busy with work. Overwhelmed with the wedding and house hunting.

There are plans. We have a date and all that stuff. Currently trying to get save the dates out and then invitations are next (we're doing a lot of stuff ourselves to save money and because it'll be more personal that way).

I have been keeping up to date on you and all the things going on in your life, believe it or not. Seen all the adorable photos and all. :)

Ha, I had forgotten all about Friendster.

Companies seriously need to be thinking about all of these failed websites, and not assuming they will last forever. We're seeing now a serious decline in MySpace users, and it will be knocking on death's door eventually.

Remember Webvan? Remember Kozmo.com? eToys?

There's a whole article about them here:

http://www.businesspundit.com/25-internet-startups-that-bombed-miserably/

CEO's of these companies need to READ THIS SHIT.

Not just assume, "oh, just serve up whatever shit is easiest to program, we're going to be around for 100 years so it doesn't matter".

Forget that: How about SixDegrees.com? I signed up for them in HIGH SCHOOL. In fact, all my high school friends did. We were FaceBooking before FaceBook exisited!

This was also the same summer I discovered the iMDB.

I faintly remember sixdegrees.com. I know I signed up for it. I barely remember doing it, but I know I did sign up for it.

That whole era seems like so long ago to me. Windows 98, the Spice Girls, new Sega Saturn games, the Lewinsky scandal, Hanson, Ally McBeal, Third Eye Blind, The Truman Show -- it all seems like a million years ago.
