5 bands is the VERY most anyone should have at a punk/indie show. with 4 bands being the perfect number. 3 is pushing it, they had better be really good. and 2 or 1 acts isn't worth going to or even putting on

i had this huge reply...but it basically all comes back to the same point....that i just dont think things have spirit anymore. now its all just a type of music to listen to, or to play, or a certain fashion...it just seems everyhting is missing the point. bring back the spirit, yo.
i think any time there is a large group of people looking similar and listening to similar music it will be a trend that tons of other people will mock. all for the wrong reasons and there's mostly nothing anyone can do about it. but i do agree with this post. it's all lost meaning.
granted i haven't been in anything besides school for more than 5 years. i still agree none the less.

A few more ramblings...
Yeah, I agree that the heartless fad of modern underground music sucks, but (in a sense) it's what people wanted. Back in the mid 90s, common underground themes included a sense of community, a rebellious sense of unity, and a call to speak out against social injustice. Somewhere along the line, however, these messages were replaced with whiny anthems of hopeless despondency. Woe is me... we are the forgotten (hehe... that's for you mike) and we are the lonely self-centered sad. We don't want your pity, but we crave your attention.
What amazes me is how this lack of feeling can be deemed emotionally beautiful. I understand the empathetic power of relating to someone else's situation, but c'mon. Either way, I'm rambling... and you know there are many more factors than this one.

i wish i could stand the music enough to be into tuff guy hardcore. its nice and idealistic and is more about 'be a man' than it is 'these are my problems'

I guess I can see where you got that...
Sorry man... but that's not for me either.
The truth is:
I've been in one of those nostalgic moods lately...
The kind where I listen to nothing but Op-Ivy and Bad Religion.
Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh. About that...
