"That's such a cool name! Like the character of a manga or something!"

Hey again. Still trying to decide on a major, so the classes I'm signing up for are really just a bunch of ones that sound interesting and have nothing to do with any sort of plan. I've got: Psychology of Racism, Human Sexuality and Society, Native American Literature, LGBT Literature, and Ethnicity and Film. And I have a few back-up classes that I ( Read more... )

Durarara!! is one of my new favorite animes :) There's a really strong urban-legend thread through the whole thing - from the headless horsewoman to all the crazy, larger-than-life characters. They're all so crazy. And yes, Izaya's my favorite too :P

Durarara!! is so fantastic. It's really terrible trying to explain it to someone, though. In my experience, I get a lot of strange looks. I guess they don't understand what a headless horsewoman and color gangs have to do with one another. >.>

If you like Durarara!! you would probably like Baccano! You can really tell they're by the same creative team, from the writers to the animation company. (And there was even an extended reference to Baccano! in Durarara!! Do you remember the couple that was dressed as members of the Shinsengumi during the cellphone scene?) I think I like Durarara!! better because it's light-hearted, but Baccano! is really good. They're characters are, if possible, even more crazy. There's some urban-legend stuff going on there, too, with the Trail Racers and whatnot. (And you'll probably have a few flashbacks to Fullmetal Alchemist, what with the alchemy and the homunculus in the series.)

Anyway, I'm really excited for the next episode. Just one more week!

The second episode is really good - but one of the conductors is Fuhrer King Bradley! Is that what you meant by there being homonculi in it, or are there actually homonculi?

Haha, the Conductor!King Bradley made me crack up. It was a riot. But no, there's an actual homunculus in the story. I don't remember exactly when you find out. Glad you seem to be enjoying it so far. Maybe I'll re-watch it this weekend.
