Tips: Dialogue

 Sometimes, when I'm writing dialogue for Kanda, I keep feeling like there's something not quite right and he's acting a little out of character. It's not what he's saying, it's how he's saying it. And every time I think about what could be wrong, it's always the same thing:

Kanda is dialoguing.

Kanda does not dialogue. He does not converse. He

I adore Kanda to pieces. I love his complete lack of foresight and I love how much he loves the other three main characters but refuses to even kind of show it to Allen and Lavi. (They are apparently either smart enough to know that he does care or they just don't care if he doesn't care. I sometimes can't tell.) I'm curious to see what he'll be like when he returns to the manga. But we'll probably have to wait for half of forever.

I love dgm_kink. It's funny and sexy and cute and often disturbing. My favorite prompt so far (that has, thankfully, gone unfilled): Lavi/Hoshino Katsura revenge!sex. Because Lavi hasn't been in the manga since September 2008 whut. I'm glad I only got into DGM in time for the (hopefully) soon-approaching Lavi arc. I don't know if I could have lived that long without Lavi abuse.

God, same thing entirely! orz My DGM big bang fic is from Kanda's perspective, and the MOST obnoxious thing I've had to deal with so far is that he doesn't bother to remember names for anyone except Alma. So I'm CONSTANTLY having to fiddle with things to make it clear that the bartender is Lavi, the group gambling in the corner is Allen+Tyki and friends, and so forth, WITHOUT using their names. Gaaaaah I hate you so much, Kanda.

On the other hand, because he is a little dumb, he's a good POV character for a mystery because he doesn't put things together the way someone like Lavi would. It's also hilarious how Alma starts rambling and Kanda just tunes it out.

Omg that fic sounds amazing. Is it ready to read somewhere on the internets? Or are you still working on it? I love Kanda for refusing to remember names. It took, what, 200 chapters or so before he even bothered to remember Allen's? /is convinced that wasn't him being nice, just finally remembering.

I... never realized how ridiculous it is to have a journal tag in a journal. XD /several years of fail. Perhaps I should rename it? "Dear Diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy" is tempting, maybe a little long... I suppose "random" could work...
