Okay this is just my opinion and I don’t know how many people will read it but who else feels like Russell is getting back at us about our love for Ianto.

·         We have been left without much back story to the character and with the tit bit we had not fully explain

I think Ianto was killed because the death of someone you care about hurts you more.

For me what ends the series here is the fact that Jack is the most horrible person alive. I could never watch Torchwood after this. I will not see season 4.

I don't see the point. The heart of the series is gone. You've lost 3 character to death, one to heartlessness and you have one left.

To me this was written as the end of the series. And not a very successful end at that. Even with Ianto's death, I loved the first four epis - the fifth to me was a sell out.

Well to me it seems like S3 was a five hour pilot for a series called 'Gwen Cooper - Torchwood ( ... )

yeah thats ture, she did seam like the main charater she is also the only charater to come out of this unsaved. yes she lost a friend in ianto but Ianto died and Jack had to kill his grandson.

i know this sounds horrid but would we have less anti gwen if she has misscarded or soemting?

I haven't see season 3, only bits on youtube (before it gets removed for blablabla...) and all I can read on TW comms. I hate what they did to Ianto. Not only killing him but in such unnecessary way! It's plain stupid, in a plot line view! As you say, it seems Torchwood will be Gwen Cooper Show.
Damn!
I'm starting to get tired of given up fandoms I love! But it seems that is what will happen. I want Jack and Ianto. I want Jack, Ianto, Tosh and Owen.

I agree with you. Although I joined HateGwen *lol* comm antigwenallies, there are times I don't hate her and I even liked her after marrying Rhys. But Torchwood is not the same without Ianto, Owen and Tosh. The fact we love Janto so much might be the reason why Russel kill him and in such unglory way. If it isn'r fixed in Dr Who by Xmas, then I will stop watching Torchwood, like I did with Lost after Boone was killed or Primeval after Stephen's death. Fans tend to like some characters that make us watch the fandom, even if the story is good (I've watched on and off Lost). Russel should decide if he wants to have fans or if he wants to just tell his story even if fans don't like it. I guess it's the second option then.

I think that you have a point. I think that RTD killed Ianto because the fans loved him so much. RTD doesn't seem to like the fans very much --- and it's becoming mutual - at least for me!! I like Gwen with Rhys - and I like that she is supposed to be the human heart/normal one/one that we identify with. I think it is funny that RTD created this great gay romance and people (the fans who he always seems to underestimate -- because he doesn't understand us -- does he even know about SLASH?????) identified/loved this relationship more than Gwen...
Unless RTD has a wonderful and logical plan to bring Ianto back, he's an ass. Plain and simple. He's torpedoed his own show...

You would! So does he resent it??? I mean that is my point. Why would he want Gwen with Jack? I've never understood that dynamic on the show -- other than that Jack is just irresistable to everyone/everything. But we have the het couple Gwen/Rhys and the gay couple Ianto/Jack... lovely balance... RTD is just nuts... I mean, of course, fans are going to gravitate to Ianto/Jack...

Apparently, they're cancelling Torchwood. The BBC is getting rid of a few shows and Torchwood and Doctor Who might be included. Killing off the characters and then the following events seem to put an end to the Torchwood story and maybe that was the reason behind the writers' decisions.

Killing Ianto and having Jack make the awful decision to sacrifice his own grandson gave the writers the excuse they needed to get Jack off the planet and possibly out of the rest of whatever story Torchwood might have left. Maybe the organisastion is rebuilt and maybe Gwen stays on and fights the aliens and whatnot or maybe that's it for Torchwood. Given that most of the original cast is dead or gone, I cannot see how they can really continue, unless they build up a completely new cast. I cannot see Jack returning to Earth any time soon though.

i wouldnt make sence to cancel torcwhood and DOctor who as they are two of the comapnies biggest exports, plus doctor who is a multi award winning show!

I know. I was confused about that as well. After Torchwood's ending, I can understand if they never made a new series but Doctor Who is one of the biggest shows they have.

Either the BBC bosses have some secret shows they are convinced will be just as popular if not moreso or logic has abandoned them completely.
