Ratzinger is mad that he lost out to Ian McDirmid for the roll of Emperor Paplatine in the Star Wars movies.

Oh... and if you get the chance... pick up the movie "Beckett"...it was released on DVD last week. About Thomas Beckett and his boozing buddy Henry II... and a little tiff that they both had almost a thousand years ago. I enjoyed it a lot. Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton.

Rawr, but they are banned in every state, to a degree. Basically you have to present proof that you need to own one of these weapons or that you are a collector. I'm not sure how strict they are about proof?

Australian Government Stuff

Since 10 May 1996 legislative changes in each State and Territory have seen:

the banning of self-loading rifles and self-loading and pump action shotguns, subject to narrow exceptions

Their FAQ

Not all firearms have been prohibited. Following the tragedy at Port Arthur, at a special meeting of all State and Territory Police Ministers on May 10, 1996, a decision was made to ban semi-automatic and pump action firearms and implement a buy back scheme to encourage the surrender of the newly prohibited firearms. The details about how this applies to sports shooters are not on their website, and wading through the websites of pro-gun and pro-gun control people is tedious. Also: Pump action shotguns are the most basic of the shotguns worth owning. =P Bolt-action and lever-action are nice collector's pieces, but yea...
