Since it's been almost 2 months since the last one, how about another round of DT? Let's try and make this one just as strange and epic as the last! Same rules as before: free-for-all drabble meme, any characters and any setting. Leave a new prompt when ya fill one so it can keep going.
As for a starting prompt? How about
this song. Jess has a soft

Looking back, I have this to regret, that too often when I loved, I did not say so.
----------------------------------------
Gin had given him instructions. Absurdly, meticulously detailed ones, including what flowers to give her, what streets to follow, what wine to order and what to talk about, right up until they reached desert where the next cue card in the pile Gin had given him had only two words written on it.
Be yourself.
Shinjiro stared across the table at Tear Grants and had absolutely no idea what to say to her.
This scripted date was beyond ridiculous. He couldn’t even believe he’d agreed to it except that he could still feel a slight chill whenever he remembered Gin’s words.
“I just need Miss Grants off the ship for a few hours,” he’d told Shinji nonchalantly. “If she’s still here, well…that would be bad.”
For her, Shinji had heard in the silence, and he could never quite forget that no matter how much Gin smiled, or how fondly he treated any number of crew members, he’d seen ( ... )

It worked. Her eyes darted up to meet his, gazes locked, and…he couldn’t quite pull away. Her face was soft, surprised, curious, and sincere. He had no idea what his own looked like, but something passed in that moment. A silent conversation in a completely foreign language that he was somehow a participant in anyway, but it cut the tension. He looked away sheepishly, and she made an indecipherable sound that was not quite a nervous laugh.
“Forgive me,” she said, regaining her composure. “I’ll ask another time.”
“Next time,” he agreed, and then cursed himself a moment later. He wasn’t meant to promise anything. He didn’t want to encourage this, whatever it was ( ... )

Commander Miles Edgeworth chooses death.
Hijikata could only stay frozen in his spot, hands shaking ever so slightly as wide blue eyes only stared at the note, those five words burning into his psyche. He-this-he couldn’t believe this; hadn’t they finally just managed to clear all suspicion from him after all those months? Hadn’t they finally managed to get von Karma and the quartermaster pay for what they had done? Wasn’t everything finally over already?
But yet as much as he continued to try and delude himself, the evidence was before his eyes-five unforgiving words upon a scrap of paper, their meaning drilling a hole through his skull and brain and leaving the man numb, senseless. Commander Miles Edgeworth chooses death. He couldn’t believe it when he first heard the news-the news of how Edgeworth had suddenly vanished in the aftermath of the whole fiasco, how he was just in his place the one moment and then ( ... )

But still, Hijikata couldn’t deny the fact that Edgeworth had just went through a very very traumatizing experience that had done nothing but utterly uproot what had been the core of his whole life. Regardless of anything, von Karma had been his mentor-and now he was gone. Both the first mate and the captain gone at the same time-the ship was already under enough chaos now in the aftermath of this whole thing, and the boatswain had been hoping that the other would return in order to pick up where he left off, but then now. Now. At this kind of time, something like this happened.
Commander Miles Edgeworth chooses death. No matter how much he tried to avoid that conclusion, it seemed like the only thing that could have happened ( ... )

"The world is not respectable; it is mortal, tormented, confused, deluded forever; but it is shot through with beauty, with love, with glints of courage and laughter; and in these, the spirit blooms timidly, and struggles to the light amid the thorns." - George SantayanaIt’s been three months since the news of Miles Edgeworth and his suicide note made the news, and it’s done nothing but leave pain and sorrow in its wake. It was the pain, the reporters had written, pain from having been deluded his whole life, having the world he knew utterly torn apart by the hands of his own mentor and just wholly destroying everything he had been living for in just the span of a single day. The lie he had been living in for the last nearly two decades now just blasted apart before his eyes by a single incident. Justice had been done after twenty years, but the price of this justice ( ... )

But all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you“
-----
There was blood in his eyes, and sweat and other fluids. Everything stung and sang in a million places and his muscles whimpered in erratic bouts of pain and tightness.
Shinjiro felt very, very alive.
In another time, another place, it would have been another 2 years before he felt this rush to it’s fullness. But even at only 14 Shinji was starting to understand it for what it was; some called it bloodlust. Gin told him it was simply the proof he was still alive even if others were not.
Gin told him a lot of things over the past two years.
And now, again, he was acting on such things.
The sword in his hand only trembled the slightest bit, the blood on making strange designs when it hit the earth. Gin had started him out with something much lighter at first, but training quickly told him that the boy could handle, handled better with, something heavier. Shinjiro could only agree. He liked weight in his hands, it felt ( ... )

He would never know if it was the weakest or the most ruthless decision of his life.
The weakest, because he gave in to his instinct to heal, despite knowing the effects on the large scale. Oh, he could deal with the large scale very well, in theory - arrange and rearrange the mindsets, the precipitating events, the consequences - but not when he was caught in the middle like this. He wasn't made for this. Real-time work, he thought to himself, was never his strong suite. And so, lost in the details, the flux, the emotional pull of one course or another, he fell back on what he knew best, shutting out the confusion. To heal. To help those who were not ( ... )
