[Oh look, more reasons for me to write angst and weird mindfuck. Whee.]

'If I die, survive me with such a pure force
you make the pallor and the coldness rage'

- Pablo Neruda, Sonnet XCIV

She's dead. She's dead, and it's all your fault.

She's deaddeaddead and it's all your fault, it's all your fault because you didn't let her, you didn't let her have her last chance at happiness and you knew what she wanted but you didn't give her it because you're a coward, you're nothing but a coward and a fool with your tail between you legs and you keep running running running but there's nowhere to run and yet you still try to run, a futile run with no destination or path you stupid stupid little boy--

"Shut up!" roared Hijikata as he snapped his eyes open, eyes blazing towards the darkness that surrounded him whole - there was no difference between him having his eyes open or closed; there was nothing but darkness and darkness everywhere, a darkness so thick and tangible that he couldn't even see a single inch in front of him. But still, ( ... )

Really, went the voice then, effectively cutting the man off from his tirade. Hijikata didn't have the time to gather himself at that and could only splutter out a semi-surprised 'wha--' as the voice continued. Do you think I don't have the right to?

"Fucking no," the man shot back immediately, "Because you're not me, asshole."

The response he got to that was the last thing that Hijikata could expect - it was a laugh, a laugh so maniacal and amused and happy that it made his gut turn and his stomach flip-over in a way he had been unfamiliar with for a long, long time. A feeling he dreaded, a feeling he loathed; it was fear, the fear that churned in his gut, fear that made his blood cold and his limbs frozen. Still, to his credit the man managed to gather back his wits after a bit and then he shouted out. "What the fuck are you laughing for?!"

Don't you get it? the voice returned, still breathless and amused from its laughing. Don't you get it why I know so much, why I'm saying all that you don't want to hear, why you fear the next ( ... )

SCRATCH THAT, I HAVE A PROMPT NOW.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.

- Do not stand at my grave and weep, Mary Elizabeth Frye

No, I do not like angst. Now where did you get that. >.>

Five years, and it's become like something of an occasion; not exactly a birthday, maybe, or Lunasa or Amicus or all those other things that people used to say were important, but... an anniversary. Something like that. She decides not to think about the expressions people once made when she tried to talk to them about it. They're confusing and don't make sense, but this-- this does ( ... )

He'd been away too long.

He hadn't - couldn't have - known, of course, but Tousen cursed himself anyway for the kind of blindness that was less forgiveable than lack of sight. Rather, a lack of foresight, of realising what the encoded suggestions in Aizen's letters had been, for returning far too late. Aizen Sousuke was gone from this world, and there was a usurper on the throne of Las Noches...what little was left of it, anyway, although it seemed that in the time since he'd departed that great battle, the city was being slowly rebuilt, but he'd much rather have seen it returned to dust than raised from the sands by the hand of Ichimaru Gin ( ... )

He held his ground, hands clenched at his sides, and even though he had no desire to provoke a fight he wouldn't have been sure of winning, he found himself saying, “You could never take his place.”

Gin laughed again, a fractured sound, like jagged glass. “I have no intention of filling his shoes, but I'm sure he'd be ever so disappointed if I didn't make use of what he left me. He always did dislike waste. I suppose that's why he never gave it to you. You're only interested in justice.”

It was very nearly a sneer, the word dragged through the mud of contempt. Tousen resisted the urge to draw his sword, because the inflection was all he needed to know of what Gin thought of his mission, of her. “And you're little more than a murderer. Do you have any greater aspiration than bloodlust and conquest ( ... )

The first time had been awkward. But like many of the stranger ideas, requests from his friend, Yosuke couldn't seem to hold it against him. And this wasn't something like the other sitting on the girl's side of the the date table or lazily eating things from the carpet while watching movies. No, while Souji Seta was... what was that word for weird...? Eccentric , it was always Yosuke himself who felt like he was the odd one for questioning him.

And this request had been almost tame compared to most.

Souji had held the marker out to him with a look that on anyone else Yosuke would have called pleading. It had been a rough day, the two of them and Chie finally reaching that one huge door, and the pressing sense of something powerful on the other-side. Chie had been biting at the bit to enter, but Souji had half dragged them back. They all needed sleep. Yukiko could wait one more day.

When he'd asked Yosuke to come over he'd almost lept at the idea. He needed to uncoil, and sitting in his room, alone, and thinking about what would ( ... )

There were times that Souji was really annoyed at Teddie, even if he never showed it. There was the time Teddie had followed them to Port Island, the time he and Nanako-chan had gotten into Dojima's liquor stores and got drunk off sake (even if that was technically not either of their's fault, but Dojima's for leaving the damn thing unlocked and not labeling the bottles), or the time Teddie had insisted on doing laundry for the team and wound up ruining Yosuke's favorite jacket by washing it with Yukiko's sweaters and Souji had had to listen to Yosuke bitch about the bear for weeks afterwards until Naoto got fed up with it and bought Yosuke a new one ( ... )
