<333 for this. I'm a sucker for Sakura-fic and I'm a big sucker for seasonal metaphors.
The changing seasons as a metaphor for Sakura coming to terms with her team's dissolution was perfect, actually. You're right, she doesn't deal with things the way either Sasuke or Naruto do. And because she's quieter (about her emotions, anyway) and it's a shounen series, she sort of gets pushed to the background. The quiet atmosphere of seasonal metaphor worked very nicely as a way to explore this. And I loved the autumnal descriptions.
And given how her emotions can get either over the top or ignored in canon? I really enjoyed how they were treated with both subtlety and sensitivity here.
Did I detect a wee trace of KakaSaku when he left as well? :D Though, that part was somehow sadder to me than Naruto's departure. We know Naruto comes back. But when Kakashi left, it was like the entire team had left her. I liked how you hinted at her feelings about that, how she numbed out, and how she felt silently out of place in the world.

Looking back, there's a lot of things I want to fix, mostly with the overuse of imagery. I went a little crazy here since I'm a total nature imagery whore, especially when it comes to writing. I can't seem to get off of it.
And ahahahaha yes that was definitely some kakasaku, I couldn't help it...
You know, the cherry blossom thing is probably what I hated most about this fic. I tried to keep it to a bare minimum precisely b/c that imagery has been done to death, as you say, and went to far w/ everything else rofl.
Oh well.
Glad you liked it though. And OMG you should definitely write a Sakura-fic yourself. I lurrrrrrrve reading Sakura fics too...they're usually so much fun to read...*sigh*
