So the office is almost completely set. Just in case you aren't sure what I'm talking about or I havn't seen you in a while, I opened my own Title Company/Law ( Read more... )

Congratulations! I didn't know that you worked in real estate. I interviewed for a summer position at Attorneys' Title last week.

Yeah, with the last company I covered pretty much everything from employment to collections to real estate closings. This is good because I pretty much have to do that all myself now anyway. I own Origin Title and Escrow, and of course I am also John C. Bennett, LLC for any legal work outside the realm of real estate. Keeping with the fact I was voted most likely to do Pro Bono work, I still do some mentoring, but no free legal work. The last thing I really want to do outside of work is more legal stuff. Good luck on your interviews, sounds like you'll have little problems getting a job (especially if you become editor-- I found that firms really dig editors). Across the street is a great bar that serves over 100 brands of Belgium beer, and I think I hear it calling me.

I think it is great that you are on your own. I would love to do that some day, or start a small firm with a few friends.

As for the job hunt, it's February, I've had several interviews but still no summer job. I'm looking for small firm or government work, preferably paid so we can go to the Philippines over winter break. I'm not too attracted to the big firms, nor are they to me. I'm too old and they don't seem to like law students who have a grad degree in something other than law. I will be a Notes editor for JLTP next year so hopefully that will help in the job search next year.
