I'm married, living in the wheatbelt, two small boys, about to buy some land (this week!) and build a house on three and a half acres in another little town :)

Wow 2 Boys! Congratulations, and on your marriage too!
I have been gone a while....
We have settlement on 4 acres in Nungarin in a week or two that i plan on using as a weekender or something so I can teach the kids there is more to the world than just the city. Also so i can escape sometimes.
Not sure what I will do with it yet... Probably trees first and some sort of driveway...
I wasn't sure if anyone uses lj any more. It would be a little lonely talking to myself haha.

LJ got pretty quiet, especially with most people tromping over to Crackbook, but I still use it. Not many of our mutual crowd do. I'll be posting stuff as we move forward on our little mini acreage so you might want to keep an eye on it if you are interested - all sorts of stuff including wheatbelt friendly plants and so on.
What made you choose Nungarin? It's a fair way out.

Would love to visit... Our little people can play :)
Nungarin... Basically it was the price, 27000. Also I wanted something non salt affected, no more than 3 hours away and still close enough to facilities. Not so much for me, but my wife is very much a city girl and very social so she needs people. Me, I could roll out a swag anywhere and be fine for a good 2 weeks before needing humans.
There is a fast growing edible tree I'm thinking of putting on the block as screening, when I find the name (it's on my pc somewhere) I'll share it with you. Incredibly high in vitamin C.
I'm also thinking of what low maintenance livestock I can have on the block. More than likely sheep or goat for meat. But the block is residential so I'm not sure on the rules. I'll chat with the shire.

I'm curious about your screening tree - we'll be wanting some screening for sure. I was thinking a combination of olive trees and some natives but I'm open to more ideas.
We're going Cunderdin because it's closer to our business (based in a few small towns - Cunderdin being one of them), same distance from the farm (farm in Mawson), close to the Prospector (for when the kids hit high school age) and got better access to schools and hospitals etc (Quairading is just that bit too far away, not that Northam Hospital is a place I want to rock up in an emergency) - Cunderdin airport is all weather/all hours, there's the Ag College as well as the DHS, it's only 60km to Northam (with a full high school) from there etc.
