Ronnie James Dio died today. This guy was an absolute fucking staple for heavy metal. Introduced one of the most powerful voices to the genre and turned Black Sabbath from a slow, droning jar of flies into a brilliant neon fucking war machine.

Youtube is being dumb, so I can't embed a video right now. I will ASAP.

So long Dio, go kick Satan's ass

Okay. Dio. A giant of rock, and he can never be replaced. But Paranoid by Black Sabbath is the Monster Truck of rock albums, never defeated, and shake your head, sir, for your utter wrongness.

I won't speak ill of Paranoid. We all know the power that lay in that album. I've just always felt Ozzy's singing to be kind of dull, and as a result, Tony Iommi's guitar work had to stay within a certain range to keep a matched sort of pacing. With Dio's place in the band, Tony was able to start laying out some of the machine gun metal riffage that, even decades later, is still thrash magic.
