“Luhan,” Minseok groans. “Where are you taking me?” They must have been walking for at least 20 minutes, but the Chinese man hasn’t slowed down or informed him where they were going. “My feet hurt.”

“We’re almost there,” Luhan reassures, but he’s said that about 3 times before and here they are still walking. He stops momentarily to reach out for Minseok’s hand, as he usually does, and Minseok sighs and takes it as Luhan pulls him forward.

Forty-five minutes ago, Luhan called Minseok, telling him to come to the park. If it were anyone else, Minseok probably would have questioned the reason for the meeting, but ever since he met Luhan in class three months before, Luhan had called him to meet several times since. Minseok finds Luhan to be very odd, the way he catches him staring, and instead of looking away he continues to stare. And Luhan’s in the habit of calling Minseok every other day to meet at some random place and he ends all these weird outings with an uncomfortably long hug for two people who haven’t known each other that long.

But that’s just one of those things that makes Luhan unique. Just like how he’s always holding Minseok’s hand. Luhan’s fingers intertwine with Minseok’s and he pulls them along further through the park.

When they finally stop walking, Minseok nearly slams into Luhan, not expecting to finally be at their destination. He looks around and finds them standing in a small secluded area surrounded by trees that were thick enough that you couldn’t see the area from the main park, but not so much that the rays from the setting sun couldn’t break through. The area is covered in tall grass except for a patch in the center where the grass has been crushed down for a blanket to be laid there.

“This is…” Minseok looks up at the sky and takes in the reds, oranges, and yellows of the setting sun and sharply inhales. “Beautiful,” he breathes out.

Luhan nods and pulls Minseok to the blanket he must have previously set up. “I’ve always wanted to bring the person I’m dating up here to see the sunset."

“You might want to consider renting a golf cart to get them up here.” Minseok falls onto the blanket, dragging Luhan with him since their hands are still joined. “So why’d you bring me out here?”

Luhan stares at him with his eyebrows knitted together. “I just told you. Because we’re dating.”

Minseok’s eyes widen and the hand that Luhan’s holding suddenly becomes clammy as the words hit him. “We’re… dating?”

“Of course we are.” Luhan frowns. “We’ve been on, like, eleven dates.”

“We have…? When-” Minseok suddenly thinks back to all the other times Luhan has called him out… to play soccer, to eat at a ramen shop, to go rent one of those cheesy swan paddle boats…

They are dating.

“What did you think we were doing?” Luhan asks, tilting his head to the side.

“I don’t know!” Minseok exclaims. His face is starting to turn red. “Hanging out like a couple of good friends?”

Luhan holds up their joined hands. “But I hold your hand all the time. And you always catch me staring at you. I thought you knew.”

Minseok embarrassedly pulls his hand away and hides his face in his hands. “Normal people tell others before they start dating; they just don’t do it.”

“Well, now you know.”

Luhan takes Minseok’s hand again and tugs on it to make Minseok lie next to him on the blanket like the previous conversation never happened. While Luhan peacefully watched the sun set through the trees, Minseok is still trying to comprehend the fact that everyone else around them probably knew that they were dating. In retrospect, he can see the faces of their classmates as Luhan pulls him to sit at a two-seater table, as they hold hands while walking to gym, as they whisper to each other away from the others.

Somehow Minseok’s had a boyfriend for two months and he’s the last to know.

As the sun lowers over the thicket of the trees and the warm colors fade to blues and purples, Minseok can feel Luhan’s eyes on him. And while that’s not unusual, he feels an inexplicable need to turn and stare back.

“As you know, we’ve been dating for a while-“

“Well, now I do,” Minseok mutters under his breath.

“-and I haven’t really made much of a move because you seem a little reserved-“

“Because I didn’t know we were together.”

“-but I was hoping that since it’s our two month anniversary-“ Minseok chokes on air. That explains the odd potted plant Luhan gave him the previous month. “-that maybe I could kiss you?”

“Uhm…” It’s an understatement to say that this has been the most overwhelming day of all of Minseok’s seventeen years. In a day he’s gained a boyfriend and had a two-month anniversary. And now his boyfriend wants to kiss him. “If you want.”

Luhan sits up on his forearm facing Minseok and stares down at him. He simply stares for a few more seconds, which has Minseok squirming nervously under the gaze. “I’m going to kiss you know.” His words come out as a statement, but it’s understood between both of them that Minseok can refuse if he wishes.

But Minseok just nods and Luhan leans down and presses his lips against Minseok’s in an innocent kiss. Both of their first kisses. When he pulls away Luhan once again stares down at Minseok before the corners of his mouth pull up into a smile. He squeezes Minseok’s hand lies back down next to him. Minseok lets out a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding and closes his eyes as he brings his free hand to touch his tingling lips.

Definitely the most overwhelming day of his whole life. But maybe one of the best.

Minseok sighs as he stands in front of the entrance of the library. Right now, he would rather be anywhere but here. After all, he is a teenaged boy and there were about a million things he wanted to do in his free time. But instead he’s still at school to do this stupid favor for his mother.

When his mother first brought up the idea of tutoring her friend’s son, he immediately refused. He’s heard about the boy, Luhan, and he has no intention of being around him for an extended period of time. It’s not that Luhan’s a bad person, but Minseok’s at the top of the top class, and Luhan’s, well, at the bottom of the bottom. He’s only briefly met Luhan while eating dinner with both of their parents a couple of years before, and the only thing Luhan said was a comment about Minseok’s cheeks. Minseok’s mom insisted that Luhan didn’t know much Korean and didn’t mean to insult him, but he’s been wary of the boy ever since.

His mother tried to appeal to his benevolent side and told him how Luhan and his mother would be so grateful, and how he would have the feeling of a job well-done, but he wouldn’t bite. Finally, she bribed him with a new pair of soccer cleats, the kind the pros wore. So, here he is at the library where they agreed to meet after school 3 days a week.

When he enters the library and sees Luhan at a table building a house of books, he almost turns right back around. But he has a job to do, and he won’t quit until he’s done. Or until Luhan drives him crazy.

He sighs and makes his way to the table, trying to ignore the way Luhan is staring at him with a blank face. He pulls out the chair across from Luhan and collapses into it, making no effort to hide his displeasure in having to tutor. “Exams are in two months,” he immediately gets down to business and opens up his math workbook, “so we really have no time to waste on catching you up with what you don’t understand.”

“You’re on the soccer team.”

Minseok looks up from his book, mildly surprise. “Er, yeah. I am.”

Luhan nods and starts dismantling his book fort. “You probably haven’t noticed, but I’ve attended every game. You have good coordination, but you’re a little too obvious when you set up to score.”

His words make Minseok scowl and he crosses his arms. “If you’re such an expert on soccer, why aren’t you on the team?”

“Because I’m failing,” he sighs and uses one arm to support his head while the other opens up his own math book. “School rules says you can’t play with failing grades, and I’ve been failing since middle school, so…”

Minseok’s features soften a little. The Chinese boy sounds genuine upset about not being about to play. “Is that why you want to get your grades up?”

“Yeah, well, I play a little with my cousin on the weekends, but he’s not very good so it’s not really the same as being on a team and competing.”

“On the days we don’t meet, we can play together.” The words spill out of Minseok’s mouth before he can think over them, but he can’t take them back once he sees the excitement on Luhan’s face. “You can show me how to set up my goals.” Luhan smiles and nods. “Okay now, so what don’t you understand?”

Luhan’s smile drops as he looks down at his math book. He flips back and forth through the pages and sheepishly looks up at Minseok. “Um, everything?”

-

“What year was the Korean alphabet created?” Minseok kicks the ball to Luhan.

Luhan traps the ball under his foot and thinks for a second. “It was 14-something… 42? No, no! 1443, right?” Minseok nods and Luhan sends the ball back to him.

“Who wrote ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’?” He kicks the ball back and pulls at his t-shirt that’s starting to stick to him because of his sweat.

“Ernest Hemingway.” Luhan answers quickly and kicks the ball back quicker than Minseok can react. After running after the ball and retrieving it from just off the field, he throws it at Luhan, who attempts to head-butt the ball. He misses, but he’s able to catch it before it’s thrown off the field again.

“You’re doing great, Luhan,” Minseok compliments. “I don’t know why you need me.” He sits in the grass and lifts up the bottom of his shirt to wipe his forehead. Over the few weeks they’ve been studying, Minseok has learned how good Luhan is at retaining information. Besides math, he had no real problem with catching up with his classes. Because of the speed at which he was absorbing everything, they were able to hang out more casually and sort of become friends.

“I’ve had trouble with the language barrier,” Luhan admits. He jogs over and sits next to Minseok.

“No kidding. You told me my cheeks were fat the first time we met,” Minseok teases.

Luhan playfully shoves him and pouts. “I learned the word from tv. I meant to tell you that I like how round your face is.”

“Still not any better.”

Luhan shrugs and pokes Minseok’s cheek. Minseok’s heartbeat picks up a little. “I’m being serious though. Even though I understand the language more, sometimes the teachers talk too fast or use words I don’t know. And in middle school, I tried to just teach myself, but obviously I’m not very good at that. Teachers weren’t much of a help either after I asked if they could help; said they didn’t want to have to repeat the lesson to me everyday.”

“I’m sorry,” Minseok sincerely apologizes for the lack of help from the teachers. “I wish I could helped you earlier. Maybe we could have been friends earlier.”

Luhan stands up and brushes the grass off his shorts. He cradles the ball in one arm and offers his hand to Minseok. “It’s not your fault. Come on, you promised me homemade jajangmyeon.”

Minseok takes Luhan’s hand and his stupid heart speeds up again like it has for the past few days. His heart quickening is just a continuance of weird thoughts and feelings he’s had around Luhan. It started with a fleeting though the previous week that Luhan looked very handsome in the school uniform and ever since then he’s been unable to stop himself from mentally listing all of Luhan’s good points. He hasn’t made new friends in awhile, so he hopes that he’s just feeling the joy of a new friend, because previous experience has shown that his crushes end up unreciprocated.

-

“MINSEOK!” All the students turn toward the voice as Luhan runs through the halls after class. “Minseok!” He finally finds the boy he’s looking for and grabs his hand. “I passed, I passed! Come look!” Before Minseok can get a word in, Luhan takes off again and drags Minseok to the bulletin board where all their grades are posted. Minseok quickly glances at the sheet for his class and quietly notes that he’s on top again. Nothing surprising. But what is surprising is that Luhan’s name is third on the sheet for his own class.

“You did it!” Minseok exclaims, just as excited to see that all their hard work over the past two months paid off.

Luhan bounces on his toes and brings Minseok into a tight hug. “When the teacher asked to talk to me right after class, I thought I failed again, but she wanted to congratulate me!” He pulls back slightly to look at Minseok’s face, and when they lock eyes, they realize that there’s something different between them. Both of their hearts are racing as they stare at each other and their eyes flick down to each other’s lips.

Minseok’s not sure who leans forward first but their lips both meet in the middle in a brief kiss. They pull away quickly and awkwardly avert their eyes. “Um… thanks again for helping me, Minseok.”

Minseok smiles and nods. “You’re welcome, Luhan.”

//

The first soccer match is a month after they come back from vacation. Luhan is pacing nervously in the locker room, excited but worried about performing in his first game. The rest of the team minus Minseok are bouncing off the walls, excited to get back on the field for the season. Minseok usually takes a few minutes to himself to calm his nerves and focus his mind, but it looks like Luhan is in need of someone to relax him.

He stops Luhan from pacing and pulls him behind a set of lockers, out of sight from the rest of their team and gives him several pecks on his lips. “You’re amazing, Luhan, and now everyone gets to see it. You have no reason to be scared.”

Luhan exhales slowly and rests his hands on his boyfriend’s waist. “Just… what if I score in the wrong goal.”

“You won’t. You waited too long to be on his team to mess up like that. I’m sure you’ll score a thousand goals and they’ll crown you as MVP of the world.”

Luhan smiles and kisses Minseok again. “Okay, I believe you.”

Though their team is quite good, they still lose by a goal to the rival team. And while Luhan only scores once, the way his eyes immediately seek Minseok out and the way he clings to Minseok as they briefly celebrate feels like he scored those thousand that Minseok predicted.

Based on this.

There’s something about Minseok that makes their idol seniors want to take care of him. Luhan supposes that with Minseok being the oldest in the group, he didn’t really like to be coddled by anyone in the group. But with his small statute and cute face, he naturally attracted older brother figures who wanted to treat him.

Luhan thinks he entirely capable of taking care of Minseok himself. He believes he’s made it clear that he’s the main person allowed to baby Minseok and should therefore receive must of his attention and affection. Of course, he can’t object when Yunho or Donghae slings an arm around him because that’s to be expected, but he’s pretty successful at keeping Minseok to himself.

No, it’s not that Luhan has a crush on him, he insists every time Yixing teases him about it. He just wants to protect Minseok and be the only one that makes him happy and maybe be around him for the rest of their lives.

Okay, that sounds that a crush.

But he’s never been this attracted to another man before so he likes to think that it’s just something about Minseok that makes him feel this way so he needs to figure this out and keep other men away from him while he does so.

Then, the Idol Olympics happen.

The first Olympics they participated in had been fun, he thought. Back then he was still a little star struck and spent most of the time wrapped around Sehun and debating whether he should get autographs. So, he’s excited when he finds out that Minseok will be joining them for the upcoming Olympics. For some reason he images himself introducing Minseok to the few Idols he met and then Minseok would compliment him on how social he is and then kiss his cheek-

Okay, maybe not the last part. That’s weird. But all the other things would still happen.

But he forgets to take in the fact that Minseok can be very social when he wants to. They’re at the event for no more than 10 minutes before Minseok wonders off to talk to the U-Kiss members.

Soon, Luhan’s day becomes periods of actually competing and trying to keep up with Minseok. He tries to do his best of not seeming so clingy, which Minseok doesn’t seem to think he is, but he misses the looks other idols give him.

He’s been sort of glancing over at Ze:a members for most of the day, particularly at Heechul who’s been looking at Minseok a little too long. He doesn’t know much about him (well they performed the same day on MuBank once), but he has read that he wasn’t particularly a very friendly person, so of course he’s concerned of why he’s looking at Minseok like he wants to eat him. Luhan tries his best to keep Minseok distracted so he doesn’t walk off again, but unfortunately, keeping Minseok occupied doesn’t keep Heechul from walking over to them.

“Xiumin!” Heechul calls out. Luhan quietly seethes from how bright Minseok’s eyes are when he looks over at the older man. “I’ve been wanting to talk to you since I first saw your name on the list.”

Minseok, being the every polite person he is, bows and shakes Heechul’s extended hand. But Heechul has no real intention of releasing Minseok’s hand and pulls him closer after a quick, disinterested glance at Luhan.

“It’s weird seeing you in a track suit after that Growl performance,” Heechul comments as he unnecessarily adjusts Minseok’s jacket. “But amazingly, you pull it off well.”

It takes everything Luhan has to not say, Bitch, get your filthy hands off him; we’re all wearing the same tracksuit so your pickup lines are horrible. But he knows better than to say what he’s thinking, but he can’t help but stare as Heechul blatantly flirts with Minseok. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re hitting on Xiumin,” he blurts out before he can stop himself, but he tries to save himself by letting out a stilted laugh to pass off the comment as a joke.

Both Xiumin and Heechul laugh while going to hold hands again. Luhan only has so much self-control and is prepared to physically drag Heechul away when the other Ze:a members call Heechul over so they can practice for their events.

Luhan allows Heechul to live another day.

He doesn’t really realize how much he fails to really hide his emotions until Dongwoo pulls him aside during an event, when little attention would be on them, and asks how long he’s liked Minseok. Luhan sputters and tries to play dumb, saying that he’s liked Minseok as long as he knew him, just like he likes the other members of his group. Dongwoo simply crosses his arms and stares at Luhan. “Okay, fine! I’ve had a tiny, tiny crush on him since we first met, but I don’t want him to… I don’t know, freak out about the whole thing so I can’t let him know.”

Dongwoo laughs and pats Luhan’s butt (Luhan doesn’t appreciate this). “He already knows. Everyone knows.”

Luhan’s eyes widen and he shakes his head. “I’m not that obvious.”

Dongwoo looks over Luhan’s shoulder at something and Luhan turns to see Minseok talking to Heechul again and Luhan knows he should have threatened Heechul’s life earlier to make sure this didn’t happen again. Minseok feels the pair of eyes on him and looks over at their direction. Luhan doesn’t even try to hide his displeasure and pouts before turning back to face Dongwoo. “See?” he says, reiterating his point.

But seconds later Minseok is running up behind him and slinging an arm over his shoulders. Dongwoo makes some excuse to leave the two alone, but he doesn’t leave before mouthing ‘He knows’ to Luhan when Minseok’s not looking.

Minseok waves goodbye to Dongwoo and turns to face Luhan. “Sorry about Heechul Hyung,” he apologizes. “He just wanted to ask about my MC gig, so you can stop glaring at him like he stole your favorite teddy bear.” Luhan makes some lame excuse about how he wasn’t glaring, but he knows it’s no use because one thing’s for sure:

Minseok knows.

4. Xiuhan | Fluff, Parents!AU | 1913w

They’re still trying to figure things out.

Of course, they’ve come a long way from the moment they first held their newly adopted baby boy, who blinked up at them with his wide, brown eyes.

All their past adoptions, more than they could count, had fallen through, some right as they got to the hospital to get their baby. After the failed adoptions, Luhan was quick to cry for a while Minseok would stroke his hair, telling him that they would succeed next time. After making sure Luhan was okay, Minseok would mourn his own way, by sitting in their completed nursery for a few hours, repacking all the baby clothes so they wouldn’t collect dust as they went through the whole process again.

But the moment they finally got to hold their newborn, they knew he was theirs. And by the way Kyungsoo’s tiny fist closed around Luhan’s finger, he must have known he was theirs too.

Though they had a full plan on how to raise Kyungsoo, highlighting and bookmarking pages after pages in baby books, they discover that it’s not so simple when they have a real life baby crying in front of them. But they’ve survived every midnight feeding, diaper changes, teething, and potty training and with Kyungsoo’s third birthday approaching, they’re almost out of the terrible twos.

Today’s one of those lazy days were neither Luhan nor Minseok have to work, so they opt not to take Kyungsoo to daycare. Luhan, being the sappy husband he is, decided that morning that he would let Minseok sleep in and he took their too-awake toddler out to go buy breakfast. He doesn’t sleep in too long though because from the bedroom he can hear his husband and child bickering in the kitchen.

He slowly makes his way to the kitchen, running a hand through his hair to flatten his bedhead a bit. Instead of entering the kitchen, he stands in the doorway watching Luhan argue with Kyungsoo about how they should arrange the breakfast tray to bring to him. Kyungsoo’s sitting on the counter and attempting to knock the cup of coffee off the tray.

“Kyungsoo, stop. You know Daddy likes coffee with his breakfast.” He pushes the toddler’s hand away and moves the tray away from him.

“Daddy says I hafta drink milk to grow big so Daddy needs to drink milk so he can be big too.” Minseok’s ego takes a hit.

“Yes, I’m sure Daddy wants to be bigger-“ Ouch. “But don’t you think he’d be happier if he had his favorite drink?” Kyungsoo shakes his head and pouts, once again attempting to get rid of the offensive cup. “Okay, let’s make a deal and give Daddy both. Will that make you happy?” Kyungsoo nods, but his face is still sporting a pout so Luhan feeds him some of his breakfast pastry and pours milk into his favorite Batman cup.

Minseok takes this moment to announce his presence and comes up being Luhan, placing a hand on the small of his back so he can reach up and kiss him.

Luhan looks sheepish after they pull apart from the kiss. “Ah, did we wake you? Sorry… we couldn’t quite agree on what drink to give you.”

“So I heard.” He gives his eager toddler a kiss on top of his head and scoops him into his arms. “I’m glad to hear that the both of you are so concerned to see me grow taller.”

Luhan grimaces. “You know I like your height just the way it is.” Minseok shoots him a look. “Okay, that didn’t come out right, but I’m not that tall either so we’re a perfect match.”

Minseok hums in agreement and tickles Kyungsoo’s sides until he’s squirming and squealing. “Hopefully, this little boy has more hope than us.”

The small family eats their breakfast at the kitchen table, and Minseok struggles to keep up with both Luhan and Kyungsoo feeding him. To Kyungsoo’s delight, he also pours a small cup of milk to drink with his coffee, and Kyungsoo reassures him that he’ll grow nice and big.

After breakfast, Kyungsoo slides off his chair and runs into the living room where all the DVDs are set up. He picks out a kids’ movie and runs back to the kitchen where his parents are cleaning up. “Dad! Dad!” He tugs on Luhan’s pant leg. “I can watch this?” He holds up the movie so Luhan can see and puts on his best puppy dog eyes.

“Didn’t I tell you that you had to put away all those toys you had out when I came in your room this morning? Do that first and then you can watch.”

Kyungsoo whines and sinks to the ground. “I don’t wannaaaaa.”

“I don’t caaare,” Luhan replies, imitating his son. Knowing that Luhan’s usually the parent that’s easier to convince, Kyungsoo doesn’t even try to butter up Minseok and gets up to do as he’s told.

“Trying to make up for buying him ice cream for breakfast?” Minseok teases his husband. He finishes hand washing the few plates and mugs they used and flicks soap bubbles at Luhan.

Luhan retaliates by retrieving a can of whipped cream from the refrigerator and squirting a dollop of it on Minseok’s nose. He quickly licks it off though and presses his lips against Minseok’s. “I love you.”

Minseok kisses back. “I love you too. Now go make sure our son’s actually doing what he’s supposed to.” He playfully kicks Luhan’s butt as he leaves and his husband sticks his tongue out at him.

“Kyungsoo~ Are you cleaning up your toys like a good boy?” He calls out as he approaches Kyungsoo’s room, but his question is quickly answered when he sees the toddler sitting on the ground playing with an array of his toys. “Didn’t I tell you to clean this up?” He crouches down in front of his son who’s looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes.

“I dunno.” He replies cutely, tilting his head to the side.

“Yes, you do know. I told you to pick up your toys and you can’t watch your movie until you do.” Luhan’s voice is stern, but his expression is mirroring his son as he also tilts his head to the side.

Kyungsoo pouts and nods. “I will, Dad, but first I hafta save Daddy from the bad monsters.” He points at a plastic dinosaur that’s sitting on top of a teddy bear. “This is me,” he holds up his favorite Batman action figure. “And this is Jonginnie.” He holds up a Barbie doll (which they bought for their first failed adoption but Kyungsoo had wanted it when he spotted it), representing a boy from his daycare.

“Where am I?” Luhan asks, suddenly interested in the situation.

“There.” Kyungsoo points over a troll doll that’s lying under his bed.

Luhan frowns and crawls over to rescue his miniature self. “Why am I all by myself?” Kyungsoo shrugs and continues playing. “Are you mad because I told you to clean up before you can watch the movie?” He gets no response. “Will you stop being mad if I help you clean up and let you eat a whole chocolate bar while we watch the movie?”

Kyungsoo smiles that contagious heart-shaped smile of his and nods. Luhan knows he’s been duped again, but how could he not make his son happy?

They quickly clean up the toys (more like Luhan crawls around the floor picking them up while Kyungsoo rides on his back) and move to the living room so they can watch their movie. Minseok’s back in the sunroom, reading a book with his thick-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, so Luhan figures he can more easily sneak chocolate to Kyungsoo.

But he should have realized that the toddler’s still a pretty messy eater, and he can no longer hide what’s he done from his husband when Minseok sees the chocolate stains all over Kyungsoo’s shirt. Minseok gives Luhan the silent treatment for some time, but like usual, Luhan’s able to kiss the angry look from his husband’s features.

After eating lunch, it’s time for Kyungsoo’s nap, and since it’s Minseok’s turn to put him down, he’s cooperative and curls up under his favorite blue blanket to sleep. Though Minseok and Luhan love being around their full-of-life toddler, it’s these few private moments that make the day easier to get through. They curl up on the couch, Minseok wrapped in Luhan’s arms and make small talk about work and where they should go for their next date night.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever thanked you for suffering through the whole adoption thing with me.” Minseok starts. “I knew you didn’t really think we were ready back then, and maybe we weren’t, but I’m glad you still went along with the whole process.”

“You know that you’re the one who makes the smart decisions in this marriage. Even if I don’t like your idea at first, we both know that it works out best in the end."

“Mmm, you’re right,” Minseok agrees. Luhan pokes him in the side to make him squirm. “You said it first!” He protests. “But I told you that you make an awesome dad, and I was right so you still owe me 20 bucks from that bet.”

“I’m pretty sure I’ve bought you over $3,000 worth of coffee since then, so we’re even.”

“And I’m pretty sure I’ve let you grab my a-“

“NAP OVER, LET’S PLAY!” Kyungsoo yells as he runs into the room. He’s put on a cape now and runs back and forth while making ‘swoosh’ noises. The parents sigh and separate from each other, preparing for an exhausting afternoon with their little ball of energy.

The rest of the day is filled with finger painting, blanket forts, and the stork version of where babies come from. They don’t have to worry much about getting Kyungsoo to sleep because the toddler falls asleep against Minseok’s chest as he attempts to teach him how to read. Minseok’s always been a pro at changing Kyungsoo’s clothes without waking him so Luhan observes in awe as Minseok manages to get pajamas on the boy in under 5 minutes. Luhan does his part by turning on the nightlight as they leave and making sure that his bedroom door is cracked open.

They’re glad to finally have such a long span of time to spend together and be intimate, which is getting harder as Kyungsoo gets older. But apparently their son has some sort of intimacy-radar because he knocks tentatively at their door just as Minseok and Luhan’s lazy kissing turns into flush cheeks and roaming hands.

Minseok sighs and gets out of bed, leaving Luhan a minute to compose himself. “Daddy!” Kyungsoo exclaims as Minseok opens the door. “He holds his arms up and Minseok knows the drill as he picks Kyungsoo up and takes him to their bed.

“Another bad dream?” he asks?

Kyungsoo nods and curls up against Luhan’s side when he’s placed on the bed. “Uh huh. A elephant was gonna eat me.”

“Well, an elephant won’t get you here, I promise.” Luhan coos as he rubs Kyungsoo’s back.

Minseok and Luhan can only give each other apologetic looks as they settle into bed with Kyungsoo between them. But they still give each other goodnight kisses and link their figures together as they fall asleep as a small but happy family.
